    New "Stargate" series announced

I'm glad its not a reboot, but one thing I am worried is how "OP" Earth was by the end of the first series. Effectively SG is a big dnd adventure, the group starts out at 1st level, and by the end its a full 20th level series....teleports, super space ships, advanced weapons. The question of...

D&D General Gargoyles need to be redone.

The idea that Gargoyles are grown from their environment and that this influences their look and abilities is pretty solid, I like that a lot.

Who Should Gal Gadot Play In The New DCU?

Well they are doing it for Jason Mamoa (he will not be Aquaman but instead will be Lobo)....so I think that is what spured the question. now personally, I do think its silly to remove your old leads...just to put them in new roles. I respect if your starting fresh that you want to be new...

D&D General Bannerets: The Tactical Geniuses with Int 8

Its the classic problem with using any simple model to try and emulate the complexities of real people. For example charisma oftens is used as: 1) The "beauty" stat 2) The "force of personality" stat 3) The "strength of your soul" stat and of course, there are beautiful people that couldn't...

    Spoilers Pluribus

I could see a concept such as: The alien overlord comes in, and the Pluribus is ready to serve. But...they have grown accomstomed to serving the 12, and the 12 leverage their authority to convince the Pluribus to resist the alien influence. And so Carol, who once was trying to defeat teh...

    Spoilers Pluribus

I think the Helen aspect somewhat answers this. Helen is "dead", but to the hive mind all of her thoughts and memories are still with them. So they lost a small amount of useful productivity in the form of one less worker....but nothing "important" has been lost (we dust off thousands of cells...

    Spoilers Pluribus

I think the key question is, is it really "human consciousness?" They certainly have all of our knowledge, but they act nothing like humans that we know. Do they actually experience anything like a human does? Its hard to say.

    Spoilers Pluribus

Two episodes in, so far definately enjoying the premise. I'm....still not sure on the other 5 people. I get it, there are going to be a few people that go with the flow (and some cultures value the group over the individual much higher than western culture so there is that element), but everyone...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I don’t believe so. Might have been a few powers that allowed it, but in general you could not move 2 squares, so a power, and then move the rest of your speed.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

No. Letting the players break up their movement and attacks was one of the greatest changes 5e made. It’s more intuitive, it creates more mobility in combat, it’s just plain more fun. It’s one of the main reasons I would not want to play 3.5 again (even if it was epic 6 3.5 which is my...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I think the notion that enough players will: 1) Be able to pick these specific magic items (5e still operates under the notion that the DM, not the players, choose the magic items) 2) Have the attunement slots to grab these items and haven't opted for something else. 3) Will spend one of their...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I disagree. 1) save boosting spells are pretty rare. It’s one kd the reasons my group likes bless even at high levels, it’s one of the few ways to boost saves. 2) few magic items give more than a +1 to save, and players don’t often have control over what they get. 3) stat boosters are not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a Better Ankheg

Honestly, the only thing I would do is....boost its burrow speed to 20. With that...the ankheg already has everything it needs, because burrow is awesome. Remember the tunnler feature only is needed for solid rock, otherwise the Ankheg can just burrow under the ground with no trail left as...

    D&D 5E (2014) How To Make High Level 5E Work.For You +

Number 1 thing about high level play....a sense of urgency. At 5th level, its about saving a town. At 10th level, its about saving the world. At 16th level, its about saving the world....in an hour. Time pressure should be constant in any situation that matters.

Spoilers Witcher (Season 4) - Spoilers

Just binged the latest season. My off the cuff thoughts: The Liam verdict: Pass or Fail? PASS. Ultimately Liam does a good job in the role. The action scenes still feel powerful and visceral. His voice carries a good deep weight to it. I think if Liam had been initially cast as Gerult no one...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I think we can make this a little more generic and apply it to a few other cases as well. "Leesh": A body part has a leesh distance to the central part. This has the following effects: 1) A body part cannot move further away than the leesh distance, and any movement or teleportation effect can...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I do like the idea of thematically some of the parts can "block" the AOEs, to limit the amount of AOE damage that is inflicted. The idea of the dragon for example (if it was lets say a left side, right side, head kind of split). Wings: When the dragon takes an area effect, it can cover itself...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

Yeah this is my thought. You really don't need a LOT of parts to make the concept work. I would also keep things pretty consistent between parts most of the time: Same AC, same saving throws, same resistances, etc. But overall I do think this is probably the "best" version of the boss monster...
