New "Stargate" series announced

I admit, I was expecting something more inspiring than a zoom call here, but this is good news! I was pretty disappointed in Universe, and checked out pretty hard when all the rumors were focusing on a return to the original film.

Very happy its not a reboot. Getting rather tired of yet another origin story for well established franchises. Sad that it is Amazon Prime Video. Don't buy enough stuff with fast shipping needs to justify the cost.

Considering what they did to Wheel of Time and Rings of Power, I'm also sad that it's Amazon Prime Video.

Exciting. I guess I'll have one more reason to subscribe to Prime in a few years.

That was unexpected! I haven't really followed Stargate for a while, but I did like the movie back in the day, and also watched the earlier seasons of SG-1. Amazon series have been a bit hit and miss for me, but I'm positively surprised that it's not a reboot, so I think I'll at least give it a try.

Hopefully better than universe. Knew they were working in something but nice to see.

Some thoughts:

1) I’m glad to see Stargate is coming back in some form- and not as a reboot.

2) even though I have Prime (through my folks), I probably won’t be watching it. I generally don’t watch shows of any kind on my computers, tablets, or phones. I haven’t even set up any of our smartTVs to watch online channels.

3) I actually liked SG:U. I thought it had some growing pains visibly depicted on screen, but I felt it finished pretty strong.

I'm glad its not a reboot, but one thing I am worried is how "OP" Earth was by the end of the first series.

Effectively SG is a big dnd adventure, the group starts out at 1st level, and by the end its a full 20th level series....teleports, super space ships, advanced weapons.

The question of course is....where do you go from there?
