Modules: Made to Read vs Made to Run?

That small amount of time, doing an activity you enjoy? Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but for me the time is worth it.

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

I wouldn't mind seeing Kirk's Enterprise following straight through from SNW.

Modules: Made to Read vs Made to Run?

Sorry to hear that. I'm nearly 50 and I do it all the time. Without a trust fund, even!

I use a Kindle. Never had any problem storing or reading anything in pdf format.

What does time spent reading something (presumably) enjoyable have to do with having a trust fund?

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

I watched it recently, and for my part it was less plodding than I remember it.

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

I liked that episode quite a bit. Had a lot to say about the different parts of the mind and how they interact.

Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of loaded terms used to describe whatever style the poster doesn't care for. People clearly have strong feelings on this issue.

"Wall of text" itself is hardly a neutral term. Someone might as well call the style you prefer "bullet-point hell".

New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

My big question here is where this new story would fit in the Trekverse. I also share @Morrus 's concern about tone. Trek can be a lot of things, but a new movie is going to set expectations for folks, and I don't personally think straight comedy is a good expectation. Hopefully it'll be more...

D&D General [+] More Robust 'Fantasy Race' Mechanics for D&D-alikes / Redeeming 'Race as Class' for Modern D&D [+]

Big fan of the OSR game you reference here. Also very intrigued by merging these concepts with A5e (my other favorite D&D-like) and it's origin system. Lots of cool ideas here!

That reads as rather unkind, if you're unaware, and makes assumptions that your feelings in this area are objectively superior to others.

    Why do we need thieves??

There are definitely games designed for and/or suited for a different focus, but I rarely have any interest in those games, and sim is still a priority for me even there. Games that don't play properly unless everyone is aware of and following genre conventions, like supers or something like...

Modules: Made to Read vs Made to Run?

I'm sure it starts with that history because it's interesting to the writer and they hope it's interesting to the reader. You are assuming adventure playability at the table is obviously the highest priority, and that's just not a universal truth.

    Why do we need thieves??

As I've said above, I believe everything a creature can do in the setting should have a mechanical implementation (to a minimum degree of tolerable abstraction) in the game. Simulating the world as logically as possible (within the bounds of playability) is my goal.

Maybe? I don't buy WotC anymore, and most of what I came for was the proprietary IP (the only thing they have going for them as far as I care, and even then I prefer when non-WotC people work with it).
