Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

This is an equivocation. The difference begween, for example, a starving artist who lives on comissions and an independently wealthy person who paints what they want on their own time, is like night and day

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

Those of you who also like this idea, what do you think of the idea that the REAL real world is either A. Not even a world of humans OR B. Actually the world of Total Recall

That's not a thing that having a job helps with. Not once in my life has my job ever contributed to the accomplishmemt of anything that I care about (except in the roundabout way of providing money). It is, in fact, the chief impediment to doing anything I want to do, by being such a large and...

Society doesn't let poor people have those things either. Do you think people work jobs because they want to work? They work jobs because they need the money. In fact, not even just poor people. Because also, if you want to become any kind of celebrity you have to sign the devil's book and give...

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

In terms of fan theories: Wall-E is Satan. At the start of that film humanity resides in an edenic world with no hunger, strife, or work. But, thanks to a plant which Wall-E gives to a character named Eve, they end up in a place where they have to work and toil EDIT: My other favorite fan...

King Kubrick: Ranking Stanley's Best Films

of the ones I've seen 1.The Shining 2. Doctor Strangelove 3. Clockwork Orange Worst. 2001 A Space Odyssey Not only is 2001 the worst Kubrick movie I've seen, I'd say that it's the third worst movie of any kind that I've ever seen in my life (better than Tommy (they butchered that album in the...

In regard to Master of Magic what I recommend is the massive additional content DLC ("Caster of Magic") for the original that dropped roughly around the same time that the remake came out

The entire Cthulhu Mythos after the original Lovecraft tales

Doesn't Civ have a hex grid, and the pretentious zoom that needlessly changes the camera angle, and one unit per tile and no tactical combat?

That's because they all try to be Civilization instead of the game that they're supposed to be

Master of Orion 2 is another one that never got a proper sequel or spiritual successor. Everything I've seen (especially the official sequels) that's tried to be has had either used spacelanes, had a dodgy and/or realtime combat system, or had a bad interface

    Webcomics!

Some of my favorite webcomics: https://cosmosdex.com/fortuna/p/0 Tragedy of Fortuna, a comic that started out on MSPA's forum but set up its own site when that forum collapsed. It's a sci-fi story about quirky aliens and mythology-themed robots who live inside of a videogame...

I guess calling it trash was a bit harsh, but I didn't see much in the new version that was actually improved. IIRC Even the modernized unit models were harder for me to tell apart than the ones in the original. And on my system it also ran slowly and occasionally soft-locked. Also it felt like...

Campaigns in a nutshell. Adventures in a sentence.

Elves Below Zero - adventure for Toon. The PCs are in one of those cheesy reality shows about life in Alaska, but the twist is that they're all elves (etc.) at Santa's workshop

    Today I learned +

Scary meter seems to disagree with itself in places Evil Dead 4 has a banner saying "#2 Goriest Movie" and Terrifier has a banner up top proclaiming "#1 Goriest Movie" but the gore meter at the bottom gives the Hellraiser reboot a higher gore rating than either of them. (I think it may have to...

    Cookin again

Saw a jalapeno popper recipe in a magazine and, although I didn't try the magazine's particular recipe, realized that the recipe I already use will be significantly easier if I cut the jalapenosmin half like the ones in the magazine rather than just coring them out
