D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

@ECMO3 With regards to Earth Tremor, you are missing what @Sacrosanct is saying: Without Circle Casting, the spell has a range of 10 feet, and the effect applies to the entirety of the area within range. But, with the Augment option of Circle Magic, which only requires secondary casters to...

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

This may or may not work, depending on how the multiple cubes aspect works (or doesn't) with the Expand option. This doesn't work because you cannot Circle Cast cantrips, such as Sacred Flame. As for the list of spells under Augment, they all look legal.

For the Supplant option, yes. For the other options, no. I agree with you about not allowing circle casting, btw.

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

That actually depends on the Circle benefit being attempted. Augment, Distribute, and Safeguard don't require secondary casters expend a slot. Expand and Prolong require expending a slot, but it doesn't list a minimum slot requirement. Only Supplant requires each secondary caster to expend an...

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

I haven't watched the video, but either it or you makes a big error: Not just anyone that can cast can be a Secondary Caster. To quote: "A secondary caster must have either the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature to participate in a Circle spell." Spellcasting as a result of species...

D&D General Forgotten Realms Books Tables of Contents

Both books mention where they can be found, but neither details subtypes or traits. At best, Heroes says that they tend to be like the Giants in the area they reside (extrapolated example: Fire Giant Goliaths residing atop Mount Neverwinter). @JPL I should have been clearer about that, sorry.

From what I can find, no mention of Bahamut at all, and Tiamat is only mentioned in relation to the Cult of the Dragon.

Not much. There is mention of Orc myths involving a rivalry between Gruumsh and Corellon. There is also a mention that Orcs came to Toril from other worlds, with a legend that Faerun was divided among the various species, there was no more room for Orcs to have their own, so Gruumsh declared...

No specifics on subtypes in Heroes of Faerun. Adventures does mention Goliaths for a number of places, but still not much detail on them, there, either.

How much of Thay died in those things? The Forgotten Realms wiki doesn't give enough details.

From SCAG: "For a time, living mages couldn't hope to advance to prominence in Thay: Szass Tam promoted undeath as a means of existence with boundless possibilities, and held back those who didn't agree with this philosophy. The recent battles with the demon Eltab, however, have prompted Szass...

D&D General Circle Magic Concerns In "Heroes Of Faerun"

Alternately, it could be "Any spell not cast via Bonus Action or Reaction...", which saves about 15-20 characters.

@TravDoc42 @Parmandur Perhaps tying into the backstory for the movie Honor Among Thieves? Maybe the rise of Szass Tam was violent enough to require reconstruction?

From Heroes of Faerun: Chapter 4 - Could you say what the mechanical wonders, mounts, travel, and vehicles items are? Are they new things, or reprints? From Adventures in Faerun: Chapter 4 - Same about the mechanical wonders, there. Chapter 9 - What is the info on Nimblewright steeds?

Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

The problem is that it isn't just X/day, it is that some spellcasting is either/or (such as the Archmage Reaction casting of Counterspell or Shield), while others are X/day each (such as Archmage Action casting of spells). Anything that says X/day each is linguistically aligned with innate...

Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

Looking at the spells with (optionally) consumed components: Ceremony Revivify Awaken Create Spelljamming Helm (from the 2014 Spelljammer book) Greater Restoration Hallow Raise Dead Resurrection True Resurrection The spellcaster gold economy might be even more broken now, not counting spells...

Assuming that Expand can increase the number of targets. Otherwise, this wouldn't work, since Sending isn't an AOE spell.

Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

Looking at that list of effects, some spells become very interesting (mostly not combat related in this list): Detect Magic - Expand (very good from an in-world standpoint) Floating Disk - Prolong Unseen Servant - Prolong Enlarge/Reduce - Prolong Pass Without Trace - Expand or Prolong Rope...
