D&D General ENWorld is better that the pundits…change my mind

I think you are pretty much ignoring all the team work capabilities of 5E D&D because they are not mechanically suited to your preferences. Its casual for D&D and in comparison to other crunchy RPGs. Its a common complaint.

D&D General ENWorld is better that the pundits…change my mind

Now you are getting it. Imagine your buddy if they had to learn their PC and whatever your PC does so they could play the game.

D&D General ENWorld is better that the pundits…change my mind

I’ve covered that. A lot of players are still learning the game and have not mastered it. Needing a volleyball team to play the game is difficult for west matches and organized play. Alternatively, the GM can dial up the challenge to require more teamwork (PF2 the opposite to require less) for...

Is that a chicken fried burger? Or do y’all just call anything on a bun a burger?

I feel like every office/team has one of those folks. I sent the thanksgiving Oreos ad to him and he immediately responded, “Sold Out!!”

    New "Stargate" series announced

Yeaaaah… I remember eye rolling about needing an Earth connection and this oh so convenient tech. I figured eh as long as they don’t…oh god they did. Show could have been totally independent without Richard Dean cameos once a season.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Reminds me of the Jones soda pack from 20 years ago. No way these cookies are as bad as those sodas were.

    New "Stargate" series announced

Oh that’s not even what I’m talking about. They made the right call (though from what I hear Anvar worked overtime selling the show to Amazon). I mean cutting them from 10 to 8 to 6 episodes and finally canceling them after t they started shooting. Also, they took liberties during the first...

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

Typically, just a level up. Though when I’m running Traveller I tend to allow a skill bump after an adventure wraps up. That’s like 1/4 of a level or less. That said, I liked his in Dungeons and Dragons Online they had milestone bumps between levels to do what you suggest.

D&D General ENWorld is better that the pundits…change my mind

I don’t like comparing D&D characters to supers, but yeah this is a good example of the differences. I think it’s the must be x-men that chafes a bit in 4E snd PF2.

Sometimes verging on usually. I’d say immediately after level up no, but with some session progression it comes into picture like working on a jigsaw puzzle.

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

Yeah the reward system is going to incentivize play. So if xp comes from killing stuff well… I think that’s why milestone is appealing to me because players, at least proactive ones, employ all kinds of solutions based on their tool kit and their interests! Though, I know that can be too...

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

Yeah that’s fair. I’m sort hybrid in that I like set piece battles and pacing big moments buuuut I like my players developing the parameters of them through engaging the setting. Start small and work up to big. XP often stays as small as long as the trickle of power keeps coming. Which is also...

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

Well, probably a bit to go around then because I was specifically calling this out as boring AF. The logistics of the world reacting is fine I just find xp places the interest in the least interesting aspects.

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

I guess I took all the excitement about dropping random encounters on the PCs for what appears to be stupid decisions. It just seems very old school punitive which is that “Viking hat” style?

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

I don’t see why. My complaint is the players being hardwired to getting stuff in an extremely boring way and the response was to lean into the boringness with random encounters as a response. Just not my style.
