    Draw Steel News

But we can all see that Draw Steel isn't ready for sale at GenCon. The deadline for reserving an expensive single booth was so long ago, that it's possible MCDM didn't know if they'd even have finalized PDFs (which just dropped in the past week.) If Matt Colville had been there, I guess he...

    Draw Steel News

I've tried to read the PDFs several times. I just can't do it. I need a Knights of Last Call video series or something.

Daggerheart sold out third printing this morning, from GenCon

I'm glad that I got mine before the first print run ran out and the hype got overwhelming. I have GMed it twice and I'm looking at starting a campaign. One of the best new systems I've discovered in years.

WotC WotC to support 3rd party creators, make map software free, and brush up the SRD

@dave2008 Which means you bought it. And it's not free to use. Which means you have to be a Master Tier subscriber to add any content. So let's say that I purchased Curse of Strahd and want to run the game on Maps (and I'm not a Master Tier subscriber). If there's a scene that involves a...

WotC WotC to support 3rd party creators, make map software free, and brush up the SRD

The map software is "free" if you've already purchased the adventure on DND Beyond. Otherwise, you have to be a Master-tier subscriber to even add your own homebrew maps. Not a win, in my book.

D&D 5E (2024) No way to end Rage on your turn with 2024 rules?

I've ended my Rage with the 2024 rules. Recently got all three books from my LGS (using store credit). :)

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

I have a Sanderson superfan at my table. I've read 1.25 of his books. This is why I rarely run RPGs set in established IPs (which includes big campaign settings). They seem more shackles to creativity than inspiration.

    Draw Steel News

Ok. A little more looking ... The ToC is "wrong" because the PDF page count includes the preface pages (numbered i, ii, iii, etc.) which throws off the entire ToC if you're using the PDF page numbers. And nothing is linked. So it's kind of a mess. The book structure is also strange. You have a...

They didn't work for me. And from my initial scans, the table of contents was incorrect (in the Players Book).

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

That certainly puts a ... dhampir on it.

    Draw Steel News

I've been so busy today, I haven't had much of a chance to look at the PDFs (besides scanning the layout and art). I'll do that this weekend.

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

It looks like the three core books (and accessories) are $120 - which makes it cheaper than Starfinder 2, Pathfinder 2, or even D&D 5.24. Just curious why you would find that especially expensive, compared to other games? (Granted, I was just writing about this in another thread: What's Your...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

The new Armory book adds weapons with new traits. Also there are battle maneuvers. So that could provide some customization. I'm also aware of a lot of classes added outside the core book (such as the Adventurers Backpack). Plus there's fan created content such as a psionics system. Choosing...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

I would anticipate Cosmere to go the way of the Avatar RPG - huge Kickstarter purchased by fans of the IP but not widely played. What little I know about it (using the Plot die to generate opportunities and complications) seems basically an overlap of the Duality Dice of Daggerheart...

D&D General How Do I Help Mentor a GM Making Rookie Mistakes?

I have played (and DMed) games that included my wife that were okay. My hope is that surrounding the group with players who actively want to participate and learn the system might be what's needed.

D&D General How Do I Help Mentor a GM Making Rookie Mistakes?

I think I'm coming to the realization that I just need to start over and find a new group with fresh blood. Where we can play systems that are more my speed. This particular group, it's weekly. I should probably scale it back. Since we do like each other, maybe we can do boardgames biweekly or...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

Sounds like I might understand the premises of the OSR better than some of the Shadowdark GMs I have played under. Maybe I should try to run it at some point to see how it is from the GM perspective?

D&D General How Do I Help Mentor a GM Making Rookie Mistakes?

Well, we finally had our next session after I made the original post. We did not interact with any new house rules that session. There were other issues that I had, but I didn't complain. Just tried my best to be supportive. 1) Having players roll for everything. ("I know you have an ability...

    What's Your Price Limit?

I have good memories in my past. I still have the occasional moment of great sessions (had a fantastic one-shot of 5E with new players, trial runs of Wildsea and Daggerheart, a great convention game of Vaesen with delightful strangers). Most of my great experiences are with games that don't...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

I've consumed a lot of the OSR media out there. I've read the Alexandrian blog (and Justin Alexander's book). I've read and watched Ben Milton (Questing Beast). I've read Matt Finch. The concepts of the OSR aren't new to me. But they get to be tedious, and I find them impractical. Sure, you can...
