    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

And there's a version in Level Up for you that matches your desires. What are you looking for here? Rallying to get WotC to change the Ranger after they're already set in stone for 2024?

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

It's an extra Feat at 6, 10, and 14. And Rogues get an extra Feat at 10. It really does feel like you have a lot of feats when you're getting one nearly every other level, as opposed to every 4 levels (with 19th and 20th being flip flopped at the end). I'm not complaining about Fighters...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

I feel like – given the sheer number of Feats that Fighters get (and too a lesser extent, Rogues) – that all we REALLY need to get to a Spell-less Ranger is enough Ranger-y feats that Fighters and/or Rogues can choose from, and MAYBE another Martial Archetype (though Arcane Archer already can be...

D&D General the elemental planes are trash

I've used this too – where Faerieland and Shadowfell and the Inner Planes and Hell and Heaven and the Ethereal Mists and the Astral Sea are all a single echo world you can "fall" into with different Powers associated with them. In the real world, many cultures consider the line between Faeries...

D&D General the elemental planes are trash

No, though I love that image (big proponent of 4e Cosmology). I'm not talking about the image. I'm saying that in 5e, the Elemental Chaos is described as the place where the 4 Inner Planes meet. If the further you go out, the more hostile and monoelemental the Inner Planes get, the closer to the...

D&D General the elemental planes are trash

What this Map doesn't show is that underneath the Material Plane and its Echoes is the Elemental Chaos, a churning maelstrom of all the elements combining, from which the Material Plane and its Echoes are forged out of the chaotic admixture.

D&D General the elemental planes are trash

I like to use the Elemental Chaos and make it a sort of "Quantum Realm" microscale chaotic building blocks of reality, to contrast with Wildspace and the Astral Sea as the macroscale what happens as you scale up. The idea of an Elemental Chaos Echo is interesting, though. I'd probably also...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Ranger has used druidic magic since the get-go, though. It's not about stopping trying to give every class spell options as trying to show Rangers off as having spells, martial weapons masteries and fighting styles, and roguish expertise and skill usage. A lot of these ointment and poultices...

D&D General Build the "Definitive Pantheon"

Why? Sehanine already serves as Moon God — so she’s sort of a “good” goddess of night. But why an evil god of light? Unless you’re going the MtG route with Heliod as the villain? Are we talking about the standard archetypes? Evil god of light is a purposeful subversion. Raven Queen serves...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

Ahh I misremembered. For some reason I thought the SRD first launched summer 2015 and was updated the next spring. I got the second part right though!

D&D General Build the "Definitive Pantheon"

Yet Mitra and Varuna are constantly called Asuras in Hinduism – and are considered Good Gods. Asura and Daeva are different families of Gods in the Rig-Veda. Most Asuras became demonized in Hinduism, but Asuras as a whole did not. Most Daevas became demonized in Zorastrianism, but some deities...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

By that logic, v5.875. And then v5.9375.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

SRD v5.2 has nothing do do with branding. It's US saying we'd prefer to use the SRD version number to delimit this revision to the core rules, not WotC. They're only using the 5.2 to delimit the SRD from the 2016 revision to the SRD.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

5.2 is this SRD revision. SRD v5.0 was 2015. SRD v5.1 was actually 2016's revisions around the release of Curse of Strahd.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Yeah, who the HECK teaches their Ranger a move that always results in "Ranger Was Flopping Around! No Effect!" Especially one where you can't remove it without flying to Blackthorn City or somethin'

That's what I've been calling it everywhere. Others agree with us.

D&D General D&D Assumptions Ain't What They Used To Be

I meant more so crapsack desert world ruled by evil Dragon Sorcerer-King where the city is painted pretty and nice but is actually horrific underneath the layers and if you go out into the wasteland everything is trying to kill you. It's less Psionic, but it hits a lot of the same tropes...

And yet most of the other fighting styles are like half-a-feat in power, but WotC considers the opportunity of gaining them worth a full feat (not a feat +1 ASI).
