    D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Krezk

My old man memory is foggy, but I remember I had the abbot's "daughter" capture somebody - maybe Ireena's brother? - and the party had to follow her to a barn and try to talk her down before everyone got attacked by mongrelfolk for harming her. There was a good bit of natural tension because...

D&D 5E (2014) Enough is Enough: WotC needs to add "domain spells" to *existing* sorcerer subclasses

I've been giving Sorcerers one bonus spell at level 1-5, and it seems to work fine - but it's a small group, and no one is playing a Wizard at the same time for comparison. I try to pick bonus spells for versatility, but when the theme is elemental it can be hard. I also find that there's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Peter Pan

I wrote up a Ravenloft domain for Peter Pan that I liked a lot but never got a chance to run. (Tink was the Darklord.)

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Four New Subclasses

What if the Genie patron is a placeholder name for another concept - Pokémon trainer? - and not actually supposed to have anything to do with the sha'ir?

    D&D 5E (2014) Bloodied Condition in 5e:

I use bloodied as an indicator-to-players myself. I do think that the concept works well in 5e if they wanted to, though. I remember some stuff the Angry GM said that suggest to me that having the nature of the combat change halfway through the battle is good at making more interesting combats.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mordenkainen's Fiendish Folio Volume 1

I remember reading that the Xill were originally based on a book that later became the inspiration for Alien. I would love to see a terrifying version of the monster in print.

    D&D 5E (2014) Eberron Is Here Today!

What about the adventure part? How much content total?

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ issue 28: Eberron living spells

Unimaginative. Just off the top of my head - a living lightning bolt should be a spark of lightning that arcs 100 each round, inflicting damage on anyone between its start and endpoints.

D&D General Which ability score would you like to increase to 18 in real life?

Charisma solves most of my life's problems at this point. Constitution second if good health comes with it, otherwise Wisdom.

    D&D 5E (2014) Enrage the Beholder

As long as fun was had.

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Previews

Never got to play Dark Sun, pity - those are the halflings that eat people, right?

D&D General Worlds of Design: Chaotic Neutral is the Worst

I suddenly remember, from a long time ago, coming up with a CE religious tenet. The idea was that anything you could take, or anyone you could defeat, added to your power in the afterlife. And anything you destroyed couldn't be taken away from you by someone else. So you burn, pillage, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mournlands Immigration Bureau

Build to Balance an All Damage Party

Until you are higher level, it's a bit harder to build a buff-only wizard than you'd think. The spells just aren't in the book. It gets better at higher levels.

Seeking Ideas for Character who Have Salvaged Animated Armor

I had a paladin in Ravenloft recover a suit of animated armor. They'd captured it without damaging it, so since they used identify I let them command it. Primarily, this meant that if the paladin were to go down in combat, they could theoretically get him back up by having the armor activate...

tail wags dog: streamers want to say 'aaargh' so we are getting a pirate adventure

I see what you're saying, but... - I don't know that I think one should weaken one's current movie in order to avoid potentially weakening the themes of an earlier movie, and - The Empire was not just about collectivism and technology, but oppression and tyranny, and having their bid for total...

tail wags dog: streamers want to say 'aaargh' so we are getting a pirate adventure

I think that making Jyn's father responsible for the Death Star Flaw (i.e. lack of safety railings anywhere) was the writer's attempt to make the Plans less of a MacGuffin in the limited confines of the single movie being written. They needed to be connected to the protagonists somehow.

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Hexblade, Paladin or Both?

Make sure to find out if your DM is an "old-school" Ravenloft fan. Bad things happen to paladins if the DM starts trying to make the adventure feel more like the Ravenloft Boxed Sets.

    Shooting down LEGIT character concepts

So after a good while I hop back on the website and discover my little post has created a huge argument. I'm sorry that you feel the way you do about my statement. In my personal experience, which in no means is everyone's - I have seen over and over how players in my group, and myself, feel...
