I'd like to see something really different for sorcerers to make them stand out. Imagine if sorcery points were rolled into spell points, but then gave sorcerers way more options on how to use the points, to really give them that "font of magic" or "raw, untamed power" or "member of the X-Men"...

It's a real problem. I have been in 3 different 5e campaigns with a ranger and the nicest thing I heard about the class from the players is "Eh, it's kinda disappointing. Oh, well."

I tend to agree. It's a very metagame situation to involve "resource balance" answers, and as such, it tends to deflate what could be a good, dramatic narrative. That's why I wondered earlier if we as GMs could trust our players enough to carry the "consequences" of getting that favour...

May I ask why not? I don't believe a particular character's faith is necessarily measured in paladin or cleric levels...and assuming it's a world where there are active powers that have been known to have an effect on the world, why would it not happen? Don't get me wrong: I know gods...

I think this is key. I think the priority of all the armchair designers here is to make a better game for the people they know that play it (their groups, friends, etc.) They want to make the already-played game better. I think WotC/Hasbro want to make a popular game. If it's good too...

Sigh. Yes, of course "some." Yeesh! When I wrote "people", I was referring to the people that (at least seemed to be) the ones that @doctorbadwolf thought found it "hard to believe that most players find 5e easier to just sit down and play than nearly any other edition."
