    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms subclasses discussion.

Any Fighter is going to be good at fighting with weapons provided you stat your character and choose feats to that end and have at least average rolls. Not quite as good as a Battlemaster or Champion is still really, really good, especially at high level and he will outheal both of those. The...

    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms subclasses discussion.

I would strongly disagree with this. What makes some Ranger subclasses good (not Winter Walker) is if you stop trying to make it be a Martial play it like a magic-first Gish. Max your Wisdom and treat Hunter's Mark like a ribbon instead of something to build around and then quite a few Ranger...

    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms subclasses discussion.

I don't really care about balance, I like cool and fun. The three I really like for myself to play are Scion of the Dead three, Bladesinger and Genie Paladin. The players I DM for love the Banneret and Moon Bard. The others Meh. The first character I am going to play is a multiclass Half...

    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms subclasses discussion.

Winter Walker was their bad attempt to fix all the complaints about making the Ranger class too focused on Hunter's Mark. Their solution - well let's just make HM more powerful on this subclass so players will like it. They totally missed the issues in my opinion.

D&D 5E (2024) Changes to the Command spell and its use at the table.

That is not a solution for the new command. As a matter of fact it is better in this case. You use it on some of the badguys while you focus fire on the others.

D&D 5E (2024) Changes to the Command spell and its use at the table.

I love it. I think it is way more powerful and generally more fun as a player or a DM. In exchange for the numerous ways it was made better it was nerfed in that you can't make up things for the enemy to do. "Surrender" was a popular one at my table in 2014, and also "daydream" to force...

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

As a point of fact, I fought against Iraqis "really trying to kill" me. I am not saying that to sound all cool, and I am certainly no GI Joe supersoldier, but it is factual. No I didn't, people. And who says potions are in glass bottles? If we are talking medieval they are more likely to...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

So early access for the FR book is out. Banneret is a completely new subclass, no Dragons. The Purple Dragon Knights and Amethyst Dragons are mentioned in the secotion on Cormyr, but it is very short and not emphasized. Basically a decade ago someone there went out seeking an alliance with...

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

No but I did go into combat with them .... which is ironically actually what we are talking about here.

You do, but an alternative is a hand crossbow then thow a different light weapon, and you can use it with nick.

RAW you need money, time and proficiency. A lot of campaigns have the first (not all but a lot), very few campaigns afford you the time to craft anything beyond uncommon magic items. If you have Elven accuracy you don't want to be using a Heavy Crossbow IMO. You want to be using something...

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

I think I am weaker in pure damage because I won't have Warmagic until level 11. I don't think I am weaker overall because of spells and 2nd level pact slots At level 11+ (Fighter 7/Warlock 4) I think I will be every bit as strong as a single class fighter because Warmagic will be online, with...

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I walked all over the midde least and much of southeast US with a canteen on my belt and went to plenty football games with a flask tucked in my belt and I never had a flask or a canteen break on me. ;)

I have all of that (well not Fey Touched). I have Hex from Warlock, Shillelagh-Charisma from Pact of Tome. I also have Misty Step from my Warlock subclass.

You lose damage and mastery options using thrown weapons with Dex. If you are using dex all you have is Dagger and Dart for thrown weapons (and WS does not work with darts). I actually forgot to mention Trident earlier, which is going to cause topple. That can slow enemies down quite a bit...

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

My current PC started out as a Fighter and multiclassed immediately to Warlock at level 2 and then went back to fighter at level 6 (Figther 2/Warlock 4) I think the way I am doing it will be more powerful in melee than a straight class fighter at every level except 2 and 7-10 Part of this is...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranged Builds Thread

I really like wrathful smite from range in play, and it works with ranged attacks using melee weapons. I like it enough that I would not want to give that up. Against enemies that can be frightened it stops them cold on a failed save. No need for slow or anything else. As such, I would offer...

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

Yeah I do most of that. Except Sheild Master, hard for me to fit that feat in.. But mirror image often on many of my PC. I am playing two PCs that use sap often right now, not always with a shield. One of them I mentioned above Elemental Eye Warlock 4/Eldritch Knight 3. She is sword and...
