    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Two, usually. But yeah, even though I feel that things are generally announced TOO FAR in advance these days for truly good marketing, I also feel like we should know something about next year's stuff by now. I could be wrong, but I feel like they don't usually (other than the 2024 MM, of...

D&D General I want a video game done in the Dalelands

I concur with the OP. I also disagree about it being "generic". There are a lot of specific places and concepts that could be explored if the game really dug into it.

D&D 5E (2024) So the Armorer still need be Wearing before Don his armor.

I've said it before. I'm no 4e hater (I liked it, in fact) but the editing. Woof, the editing. We used to flip through them to spot errors as a mini-game - usually several in a single quick flip-through! We used to say, "Did anyone bother to read this before sending it to press?" 5e books...

D&D 5E (2024) So the Armorer still need be Wearing before Don his armor.

Now, here I just disagree: 2024 D&D has the best layout for character creation that the game has ever had. It's different than you're used to, which may throw you off, but IMO, it's a significant improvement.

That checks out with Crawford's overall style. Personally, I don't think "troll those who are overly fixated on the letter-of-the-law" is a good way to teach them to relax, even if I agree that relaxing is in all our best interests. In the very least, trolling is not very kind.

D&D General Frustating Misunderstandings About Warlocks

You got me there. You can no longer trust Google to answer a fact-based, real-world basic piece of information with the truth. I suppose that was always sort-of true with things like Wikipedia, but let's just say - I think the internet used to be closer to a place where you could find true...

I was gonna say: If Reddit is your only source of good information, the world is doomed.

D&D General Frustating Misunderstandings About Warlocks

I'd argue it's the other way around - it's only pedantic to claim that they don't get high level spells because they don't cast them in the "normal way". IMO, by all reasonable measures, they absolutely have and cast high-level spells.

    Should traps have tells?

I like involved set-piece encounter traps that run like monsters, except the solution isn't (at least, not always) to just "hit it until it drops". An example would be the one that I call "The Grinder". It's a little "gotcha", but it's fun: The party is at a staircase leading down. The first one...

Yikes. Strange and incorrect takes. I feel like YouTubers are getting more and more like this all the time.

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Team Fusion With psychic coordination through Darius and the others keeping an eye-out, Shade-9 calculated that it was best to proceed. The Hydra had not spotted him, hunkered down in the silt at the base of the ridge. He would have to slowly shuffle forward, and see if he could slip the Idol...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

It occurs to me that Team Fusion might be waiting on me, when I've been waiting on you, perhaps mistakenly, because I didn't ask for any particular check or post. So - see my quick update.

Time travel doesn't exist because time travel wiped out the timelines where it did

I don't believe that time is actually a thing. Change my mind.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Slipping? There's always been mistakes in D&D books! I used to play a game with a friend to see how many we could find in a ten-minute flip-through! Mistakes always happen. The 2024 PHB didn't originally list the time it takes to Don or Doff a Shield, for example. But it was tight compared to...

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

I would say that it allows you to pick your spot, then change it (by a bit) after you see where everyone else is situated, including visible enemies, without anyone complaining. It's not great but it's not too bad.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Looks like they could write it how they intended, they just needed to be aware that it was written wrong and fix it.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

You sure that they didn't just say, "Everyone will know what this means and how it's intended to work"? I mean, it's not a patch on the 2024 Hiding rules, is it?

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

I'd hadn't heard of this "problem" when the claim was made, so I looked into it. I still don't see the problem. It's the same as if the feature said "can move up to your Speed", except that it synergizes with other abilities that trigger on a Dash, like ignoring Difficult Terrain or +10ft Speed...
