    Surrogate downtime & renown

I'd say yes, based on existing AL rules. No surrogate appears to come with a faction affiliation, which is normally done during character creation. However, the ALPG notes that "[a]t any time during your character's adventuring career, you can choose to become a member of a faction." (ALPG 6.0...

    Surrogate downtime & renown

The latest Death Curse guide states that "all cumulative rewards" are transferred from the surrogate to the original character, if the original character can be brought back. This would include renown and (unspent) downtime. Note, though, that if the surrogate isn't part of a faction, it doesn't...

    Quick Character Question.....

Well, it does sound like an error made in haste, in the rush to get into a big event, but without knowing the spells involved, it's hard to know just how long this character has been illegal. Regardless, if you didn't set off to make an illegal character, fixing it shouldn't be that big an...

    Quick Character Question.....

It seems unlikely that the character never cast the spells, given that the OP says the spells were significant to the "flavor" of the character. Ultimately, though, it's the player's responsibility to bring a legal character to the table. DMs are authorized to confirm the legality of AL...

DDAL Hardback ToA start vs DDAL07-01 start? [spoilers]

Are you planning to run the same characters through both the hardcover and the AL adventures for Season 7? If not, I'm not sure how important it is to use the starting adventure hook for the adventures you're not running. If yes, then it's easy enough to simply have the players take a ship to...

    Quick Character Question.....

The DM, at minimum, should have noticed, since AL DMs are tasked with running AL games according to both the D&D and AL rules. The player might want to point this out to the DM, in the event the DM is unfamiliar with these rules. They should, not only because it will lead to fewer headaches...

Fai Chen Season 7 - what did you get?

I went to Fai Chen's at GenCon, and since I'd recently come into a magical lance, was specifically looking for special mounts. I didn't see any, but I'm not sure if there just weren't any available that day, or if I just missed them. -- Pauper

    Tortle Package AL legal?

My guess is that it would be close to November 4, since that's Extra Life day, and the Tortle Package is explicitly a fund-raiser for the Extra Life charity. (In other words, it won't be free, though it might be 'pay what you want'.) -- Pauper

    Quick Character Question.....

I'm going to disagree on the 'up to you to judge the minimum changes' text, though I agree with the rest. Since druids don't have 'spells known', but rather prepare spells daily from the full spell list, the simplest solution is just to remove the EE spells from your spells prepared and replace...

    Surrogates are now available

Unless you only have Season 7 AL games as options in your area, you could opt to play your 'main' character in a different season while making (or playing) an alternate character for Tomb of Annihilation. The admins seem to want to encourage making new characters for each season anyway. -- Pauper

    DM Quests question

I remember seeing it somewhere in the AL documentation -- if you're still working a DM Quest from a previous season, you can apply your DMing toward those quests, but you can't also apply those same DMing sessions toward quests in the current season. So if you're still working on Herald of the...

Note that, per Alan Patrick on Facebook, the DM Quests in that package are not yet finalized and are subject to change. -- Pauper

    Tortle Package AL legal?

Source? Though I will note that TP (for 'Tortle Package') has been added to the list of acronyms in the new FAQ... -- Pauper

    Tortle Package AL legal?

Actually, that grung rogue in the surrogate pack is looking mighty tempting. Mainly I'm trying to stay ahead of the curve -- we've got a good number of folks at the FLGS who are very much into the anthropomorphized animal thing, so I figure they're going to ask me as soon as they find out. --...

    Scheduling

To the best of my knowledge, AL doesn't have any rules or restrictions on how games are organized. When I was a store organizer, I used Warhorn, and it was very helpful. I've seen other groups in our area use Meetup as well. -- Pauper

    Tortle Package AL legal?

Just learned that one of WotCs Extra Life activities this year is to publish a document called "The Tortle Package" to the DMs Guild, with all proceeds from the document going to the Extra Life charities. Is there any indication whether the playable Tortle race in that document will be allowed...

Sage Advice adds 6th printing errata

I believe the plural of 'elf' is 'elves', at least in D&D. (See Basic Rules, pp.13-15) Lord Dunsany approves, though. Also, Sage Advice *can* apply to AL, if the DM chooses to allow it. "Whether or not any given Dungeon Master chooses to use Sage Advice as a resource for rules adjudication in...

Sage Advice adds 6th printing errata

The September Sage Advice column is up, and while generally the advice given in Sage Advice is optional for use by AL DMs, advice that makes it into the game as official errata is not optional. The DLDMG notes that AL DMs are expected to run games using the rules in the Player's Handbook, so any...

An incomplete list of D&D rules explicitly left to the DM to rule on

Noticed that -- it doesn't appear that any of the new errata affects the rules we're discussing here. I'll list the specific 6th printing (i.e.: new) changes in a new thread. -- Pauper

An incomplete list of D&D rules explicitly left to the DM to rule on

The 'interact with an object' activity (I won't call it an action, since that's a different term) would seem to cover this situation, and "pick up a dropped axe" is an explicit example of an activity that counts as interacting with an object. It's certainly allowable for the DM to rule that, as...
