This is extremely disappointing news. I didn't participate in the beta, so I can't say anything about the current state of the software, but me and my group loved the character builder in 4E and really want something similar for 5E.

Thanks for pointing out how empowered I am, you are the second person in this thread to do so. Like I mentioned in my reply to Mistwell, my group wants to play the game as close by the rules as possible before we decide what (if anything) we want to house rule.

I think another reason why the world isn't overrun would IF the undead creatures, like shadows, don't roam free. If they stay in the area where they were created.

In a few past editions, Wraiths and similar creatures had the power to create new Wraiths (and those new Wraiths could create even more). From a simulation-perspective, this would lead to the world being overrun with Wraiths. What are the rules on Wraiths? Do they create entirely new wraiths...

I think much of this is due to the rules treating NPCs and monsters differently from PCs, in addition to the slightly more rules-light nature of 5E.
