    D&D 5E (2014) What's your favorite one shot adventure?

Dial up or down the complexity based on the motivations of the orc, as well as the flavor and source of the pie.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Meeting a mysterious stranger -- or even meeting the new adventuring party -- in a tavern or inn has become a common fantasy and sci-fi trope. On a certain level, this makes sense. Inns and taverns are meeting places and cross-roads, and likely places for strangers to encounter one another by...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I cackle with glee at the art of the old D&D cartoon characters.

D&D General Has Tiny Hut actually affected your game? Or has it otherwise mattered?

IME tiny huts come in two varieties: one containing and orc with a pie, and one containing a colossal red dragon. Leomund hasn't been an issue.

D&D General Who put all this Sci-Fi in my soup!?

First time? OD&D was a gonzo mashup of sci-fi and fantasy. Most of the sci-fi elements weren't purged until 2E (and then returned in Dark Sun and Spelljammer). I generally don't like those elements -- I hate psionics with the fiery passion of a sun gone nova -- but they've always been there.

    D&D General Orcs are misplaced

Did someone take them out of the kobold -> goblin -> orc -> hobgoblin -> bugbear hierarchy?

Subtitles for People That Hate Them

My wife makes me read them to her, which is annoying to both of us, so we tend not to watch things that are subtitled.

    Webcomics!

Order of the Stick! I think this is the best D&D webcomic, great jokes, and some very D&Disms. Honorble mention to Life of the Party though. XKCD Great geek comic, often very educational. HIghbrow humor, often, and good for the single panel format. Irregular Webcomic. One of the OG's. The...

D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

Back when, I ran Elminster like the Dread Pirate Roberts ... he wasn't a single individual, but a series of charlatans who would take the name as a pretense to greatness.

Your top 5 movie trilogies of all time, and why?

I'm not sure Indian Jones counts as a trilogy given your definition (and disqualification of Dollars). The second movie takes place chronologically before the first, plus there are five movies now. I'm fine with counting it just as I am Dollars. But whatever; I'll choose my own definitions, so...

Renegade to Reprint Lords of Waterdeep

Great game. I suggest it when people ask to play Monopoly. There's a lonely Scoundrels of Skullport expansion sitting on the shelf at my FLGS; maybe with the reprint it will find a loving home.

Trailer Tron: Ares | Flynn Lives

Greetings programs! Saw it today. Entertaining but a bit flat; 5/10. Thought the characters needed development, the plot devices were contrived, and the soundtrack could have used more Depeche Mode and it had nothing catchy. It's the worst of the three films IMO -- the first had vision and...
