This is a thread dedicated to making sure everyone can play D&D. Here we can brainstorm how to remove barriers or other factors that prevent people from playing D&D. How can support people so that they can join the D&D world?

So just give the players a pause sign they can use during a session. Whenever someone raises it, you pause the game and explain why you made a ruling in a particular fashion.

And people wonder why the Mercer Effect is a thing???

I signed up at the last minute so there wasn't many slots left. I did manage to get into a session of the Ennie winning Shadowdark.

Sounds like you need to give him a +3 rapier, asap! If you're worried about it making him overpowered, just give it the quality, "all attacks with this weapon draw attacks of opportunity" (or maybe have the weapon have a -4 Con mod) to make it balanced. I'm sure your player will love his new...

The last time I ran 4E, it was great! Then again, when your table group is drawn from Enworld, where the greatest TTRPGers on the planet assemble, that's par for the course.

How so? It is more then an Ad should have? Are Facebook ads an acceptable way to advertise D&D???

4E, like any TTRPG, has certain assumptions. If you violate those assumptions, a bad time can ensue.

So you don't mind that 2E put D&D on the course of being owned by a megacorp???

People who complain that the stylish layout makes it hard to read should go read the 4th Edition rulebooks. Firing up the imagination is vital, understanding the rules is optional. After all, won't the DM just ignore them and use their judgement anyway???

Why not? This monster is so powerful/special, an effect that would out right kill/render powerless other beings only slightly weakens it! You're free to come up an answer that'll best fit your sense of simulation; but I'm not willing to spend the time or energy to jump through the loops...

Then don't call it a compatibility issue? (You might not be though?) Call it a planned obsolescence issue instead?? Compatibility means you can still use old material with new. Planned obsolescence means they kill the old stuff so you have to use the new stuff. Though it's more like they make...
