Exploring Eberron: Forge of the Artificer

It came across to me as a bit of an unnecessary dig - not much related to the book you were discussing. This is a short, cheap, book updating Eberron to 2024. The review came across pretty negative encapsulated by the summary paragraph. That’s fine but the reasons you gave felt a bit...

D&D General D&D Dungeon Map Design: Good and Bad

For me the best map designer and artist is Heroic Maps. It doesn’t hurt that they are always beautiful maps but the quality of the dungeons tick all the boxes!

Exploring Eberron: Forge of the Artificer

Very good review. Far more comprehensive and logical than the other review floating around which seemed to have issues with the Eberron timeline etc.

Spoilers Stranger Things Season 5 - SPOILERS

I wonder why it was then and not the moment El opened the portal to banish Henry through it

Pathfinder 1E Rise of the Runelords

I’m running it next year for the second time set in Eberron. Some great scenes… really enjoy the foulness of the Grauls. Also make the saw mill really dynamic and the scarecrow ghouls. There is a lot of atmosphere in that campaign.

And that is totally great. It’s a choice that people would only take if that wasn’t the case. @Benjamin Olson ’s points are all spot on. I personally have seen all those points when playing online games. Pretty bad examples of them as well. I’ll also add another point 8) The players seem to be...

Luck be a lady tonight. I think you’re right. I can’t speak for D&D. I think WFRP has a better player on an intrinsic level because i’m exceptionally biased. I’d like to think they are all like that but yes, based on what I’ve seen my Fate points are high!

I think everyone has to weigh their spare time vs cash flow. I do think the most important skill is to be able to interact maturely with people. Making them feel welcome. Engaging players that you think are being quiet or dampening players that are talking too much. All the normal skills but...

So let’s be honest my ideal party size is four. The thing is based on my trial sessions I assumed I would get a 2/3 attendance rate. Hence a max of 6. Sods law. Almost every session has been full 6 people. (I’m not complaining, it’s wonderful) @Agamon indeed. You set a minimum and maximum...

I think the German would probably be fine. Maybe the market is smaller but it’s still tens of thousands of potential players. There are likely German, Austrian, Swiss players that would prefer to game in German.

    Should traps have tells?

I think that dungeon potentially has a lot of moving parts - withers and wandering monsters in particular and I think the those two things can be used to make the traps far more interactive.

    Immersion?

Very good video. Makes it clear that immersion isn’t just about playing music or frowning on PCs joking around.

This all really rings true. I opted for 8pm UK time. My worry was pleasing nobody and excluding both Brit’s and Eastern Europeans but it seems to be ok. I’d be interested if other groups are similarly international.

Honestly I’m in awe. For you juggling all that, and making it work. For an extended period too. I did check out your profile and it’s clear the players love what you do too. I am really interested in the sociology of the process. I can definitely see players cross pollinating different...

Imagine a convention but it’s every week. I’ve learnt that I have to do a lot of the core admin after the session or before my main job on the morning of the session. Something will always come up that gets in the way. I have a full time job and when I first started the elation of it working...

First foray into paid DMing - 16 session in.

Hey. So as some will know back in August I took my first steps into paid DMing. It wasn’t something I did lightly but I’ve been DMing for 30+ years, have a theatrical character and believe that if you’re good at something you shouldn’t do it for free. I thought a side hustle might not be a bad...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

I think that’s how most of these rules exploits worth. Technically possible but would require some brass balls to square up to explain you are doing them. Even then probably overruled by social contract or rule zero.
