Probably best not say what is or is not genetically impossible in an imaginary elf game. Stories are filled with shapechanged dragons siring children with dragon blood. 3e had whole prestige classes for growing up as a half dragon. Sorcerer would probably disagree with you too.

I would think most spells an Eldritch Onight would cast in combat don’t have Material Components. Or at least there are enough that the EL shouldn’t suffer.

Andrzej Sapkowski is a great writer and world builder. He created places, political structures, rules for magic, gods, temples, mythology, bestiary and a pretty extensive timeline. Sure it was expanded by the computer games but a huge amount is laid out in the novels.

They’re likely to get it anyway with War Caster a feat specially designed for spellcasters in combat. If you start giving feat abilities as class abilities all the time then what’s the point of the feat. Otherwise don’t use a shield as an eldritch knight.

Definitely great news. Very pleasantly surprised by the FR stuff released to date. For Ed to add four modern supplements is awesome. Though timing might be off as my Dalelands campaign is starting in Spring.
