It's hard to imagine such a collective doing art or books or movies or anything like that.

How does a species that is 100 percent happy improve things? If you aren't dissatisfied, do you ever invent anything new? Most inventions solve a problem, but if you're always happy, what problem do you have other than eating?

Agreed. Which raises the question, why? What are they gaining? They aren't expanding their reach. They aren't escaping their solar system. They aren't really reproducing. Are they trying to change others for moral reasons? If so, how do they expect them to survive?
