    D&D 5E (2024) A critical analysis of 2024's revised classes

    1. Representative of what? For the most part play testing is only done by the most dedicated of groups that already play the current version of the game. I don't think it was that way for 2014 as we were coming off a fairly controversial edition, but for 2024 it was still highly successful...

D&D General Alternate firearms rules (input needed)

My first question is - what if the players want to load and carry around 10 pistols? Unless we can feasibly limit that then nothing else matters except the damage they do. Also, would this not function with extra attack, ie draw a new pistol after each attack?

Resource Management, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying About Rations and Love Mana

I'm late to the party but there comes a point in every long term resource system where you eventually out accumulate the resource. It's usually the first problem the players try to solve for and it's usually fairly trivial to make it into essentially a non-factor. Mana Systems as the OP...

    D&D 5E (2024) Wizard vs Sorcerer In-Depth Analysis (2024)

The Answer I'd rather be interesting than right. A common question is whether Wizards or Sorcerers are better. This must be because Wizards and Sorcerers are so very similar. The true answer is that it depends on the campaign and the character level and progression range being analyzed. Yet...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Point Buy Balanced?

Definitely was autocorrect. Should have stated ‘with replacement’. It’s quite amusing though.

6! Would be 6^6 if religion was allowed.

Dungeons & Dragons: Warlock Video Game Announced by Invoke Studios

Okay but, wasn't bioware's internal management mostly the same from the earlier games to the newer ones?

D&D General The Monsters Know What They're Doing ... Are Unsure on 5e24

I'd be disgusted too if I found most of the 2024 changes to be worse than 2014 regardless of how similar everything else is. I don't, i find some good and some bad, probably about 50-50, but i don't think it's hard to understand why someone that didn't share that opinion might feel that way...

Side note: shouldn't the cleric have been dead at -6 str?

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Point Buy Balanced?

If we assume the process goes something like this. Create otherwise identical characters with different point buy arrays. (Same mechanics and personality even though stats often are used by players to inform personality and roleplay and even sometimes most effective ability choices). Face...

D&D General How Did You Generate Your Most Recent Character's Stats?

Sometimes it’s also fun to be surprised and to not be able to cookie cutter a character. That’s the feeling I like with rolling. Though too bad of rolls pigeon holes things too much and I dislike that. I need one or 2 good stats but after that the rest can be whatever.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

The question is whether that’s the exception or the rule. Cherry picking a few enemies doesn’t validate your point. Perhaps almost all of them are that way, but that’s not what you are currently saying. For single target control you rarely need more than 1st or 2nd level slots…

    The "math" of RPGs

Considering I said happen more and not more often then I think this entire defense by distinction falls on its face.

I’m curious. 1. Have you ever actually been harassed on here and 2. What exact behavior are you calling harrassement? My guess is we have much different ideas about what constitutes harassment.

That doesn’t make sense to me either. How can they harass you if you have them on ignore?

    The "math" of RPGs

That’s precisely how probability works. You are misapplying the average out concept here. If you have a 1% chance and have 10000 samples then on average that result will occur 100 times. If it’s 100,000 samples then it’ll occur on average 1000 times. More samples -> more occurrences.
