D&D General Revisiting the Red Box.

Yes, the Expert Set that followed. BE is the most complete version of the game that also has the best guidance on what to do with the game. No older brother or mean high schoolers needed: ten year olds could have these things in hand and learn to be awesome players and GMs (if I do say so myself).

Trailer Avengers: Doomsday | Only in Theaters December 18, 2026

Wasn't that what the (more recent) Secret Wars comic was some years ago?

Crows, James Introcasos MCDM Dungeon Crawler RPG

You may have noticed that this is mainly a TTRPG community, so whatever weird possessiveness board gamers have over mechanics I can't speak to. But video games not copying each other? LOL. Anyway, more importantly, using an existing system as a foundation is NOT the same thing as "not doing the...

D&D General New Feywild themed D&D Romantasy tie-in announced

It is such a weird genre to me. But hey, it is also almost literally the only one selling currently, so good for them!

Trailer The Death of Robin Hood

Full disclosure: I have not watched the essay. There is no wrong Robin Hood (or Arthur) adaptation. The stories about these characters are rorschach tests for their time -- from the very first ones through the present. The same thing will happen to our culturally iconic characters as they enter...

D&D General New Feywild themed D&D Romantasy tie-in announced

    Wait, i thought BG3 was D&D Romantasy?

Trailer The Death of Robin Hood

Like Arthur and his Knights, Robin Hood has been so many things that any argument someone makes saying that it "isn't the real Robin hood" is just plain silly.

D&D General Fixing the Offense Tunnel Vision problem

The problem with developing solutions to this problem is that the design of 5E is aimed at hit points as the primary balancing factor for CR. You can't change the "hit it as hard as possible" mindset without making victory something besides eliminating hit points.

Crows, James Introcasos MCDM Dungeon Crawler RPG

Very cool -- a crunchier Shadowdark (sort of, maybe).

Crows, James Introcasos MCDM Dungeon Crawler RPG

I am not sure why you have such a hate on for Shadowdark, but this is legitimately rude.

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

I personally don't think 5E is a particularly good tactical game. it lacks a lot of reasons to reposition, and if position doesn't matter, you have failed at tactics. I actually think DH does better by being a little bit vague but only specifically for the comparison to 5E. There are tons of...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Why do you think this is incorrect? Nothing about Daggerheart's presentation says "no trads allowed."

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

My oversimplified assessment is: I can't think of anything I can do as GM with 5E that I can't do as well or better in DH. That doesn't mean DH is perfect, just that for generic heroic fantasy it beats 5E.

Crows, James Introcasos MCDM Dungeon Crawler RPG

"Crows" gives me big Abercrombie vibes for some reason. MCDM's take on the OSR/Shadowdark niche?

It feels forced. But I absolutely love the 2000s Xmen so i guess im in.

Officially pre-ordered Hope and Fear for Daggerheart.

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

What a strange response. All I did was offer a counter point. And then be a little cheeky. I guess I did not add enough emojis... I did not say anything near "the language was uniform." That came from inside your head.

    How do you define "Heartbreaker?"

Terminology drift is certainly a thing, so it makes sense to ask what "Heartbreaker" means to individuals rather than what the original or official definition is. I do think that it has long been used as a derogatory term, even if that was not Edwards' intent from the beginning. Mostly because...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

They were called "Actual Plays" on RPG.net since at least 2003 (that is as far as the archives currently go back) and RPG.net did not invent the term. Believe it or not, EN World was not always the center of online RPG discourse.
