D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

So I did a similar comparison with sap and a shield vs no sap and no shield. 1 incoming attack ~45% damage taken 2 incoming attacks ~61% damage taken 3 incoming attacks ~67% damage taken 4 incoming attacks ~69% damage taken The corresponding EHP values (probably a bit more comparable to DPR...

D&D 5E (2024) The value of Sap Mastery

I looked at SAP Mastery and I found the following to be good estimates of it's value in the following situations. 1 incoming attack ~62% damage taken 2 incoming attacks ~81% damage taken 3 incoming attacks ~87% damage taken 4 incoming attacks ~90% damage taken Note: These are rules of thumb as...

D&D General 'Project Sigil' 3D Virtual Tabletop Finally Laid To Rest

I think anyone could see from a mile away that Sigil was most likely doomed from the start. The concept just was never going to be a big winner.

D&D General 'Project Sigil' 3D Virtual Tabletop Finally Laid To Rest

IMO. Creating more problems than they solve is usually the goal of management. Because it’s hard to justify their jobs in they can’t point to something they improved.

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

There was one for 5e, but I think the guy running it closed it down due to expense. He posted some threads on it here.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

What kind of goat do you have? …Oh you don’t have a goat? It’s honestly amazing humans can communicate at all.

D&D General 'Project Sigil' 3D Virtual Tabletop Finally Laid To Rest

3-D always had the usability issue. Not for players so much as DMs. Much harder to design a 3-D encounter than a 2-D one. Players would have a big learning curve for 3-d as well.

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

For this encounter I think you could have set the characters in an arena with the wererats, rolled initiative and the characters would have still all died. The tactics didn’t help, but I don’t think anything realistically would have.

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

Yea but even with best play I don’t think it’d have mattered.

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Only problem there is that as barbs lose hp they become less durable on the next round. Fighter/Paladins can heal so they can maintain their durability for a few rounds. I think too often we focus on what happens at full resources only instead of seeing how durability progresses through the...

I don’t know why both cannot be true.

D&D General Is this use of a wizard's spellbook accurate?

That’s my take as well, but I think there’s enough of a smidge of ambiguity there to make it not 100% clear. Whats intended is fairly obvious though and it’s exactly what you said above.

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

The question there might be are you converting modules or making your own encounter guidelines with a5e or even 2014 encounter building guidelines? Also I believe you that PCs are more powerful, but in what dimensions does that extra lower exist? I really doubt it’s ac and hp, but I could be...

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

The 1st question might be, just how much stronger in terms of hp and ac are level 3 characters in a5e? (I suspect not much). Then maybe also in damage and control? (I suspect this is where most of the increased power is located). IMO. 4 5e-style wererats shouldn’t have been that hard of an...

D&D General Is this use of a wizard's spellbook accurate?

Agreed. Though maybe useful for rituals?

D&D General Is this use of a wizard's spellbook accurate?

Right, but you can prepare them as a Wizard 4/Druid 5

D&D 5E (2024) The Most Meta Party to Make the DM Cry?

Consider this... If the DM is tailoring encounters to the actual party and what the PCs actually do then full caster heavy parties that are stingy with spell slots and don't always play optimally is going to lead to the least difficult encounters with the greatest ability to punch harder if/when...
