WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

They also have options to require signature confirmation for the delivery (for the postal service, it costs a little extra, but not that much extra - dunno about FedEx, UPS, or DHL). If delivery is refused, then those companies log that in their systems, and would create a paper trail that...

And the Pinkertons didn't need to tell the guy that if he didn't hand over the cards now they go to the Sherrif and report that all the guy's Magic cards were stolen, getting him charged with a felony. Except the Pinkertons did that.

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Yup. You hire a Process Server, and the Process Server escalates to threatening to get the person charged with a felony for when they were serving papers for a relatively minor issue (by comparison), and the news story goes national (or international) - for an issue could have happened to any of...

D&D General Ben Riggs on how to make D&D a $1 billion brand

I wouldn't say it's flopped. Going from Box Office Mojo, it's stayed in the Top 10 - the films that have dropped it down in the rankings are either films that are very much for kids (Mario Bros) or horror films that aren't going for the same audience (Renfield - Horror-comedy, The Pope's...

    Chaosium hinting at something big.

I will admit that I really liked some of the adventures from Call of Cthulhu D20 and really wish they'd gotten adapted to standard Call of Cthulhu.

D&D 5E (2014) The Fall of Arcadia. MCDM's 5e magazine ends in July.

That said - I've seen awareness of it on some of the non-TTRPG discords I'm on and podcast I listen to - the Axe of the Blood God podcast (a Console/Computer RPG podcast) brought it up in passing on their most recent episode, and this also came up on the Discord servers for LoadingReadyRun (the...

HBOMax Explained and Streaming Service 2022 Year End Review!

The suspicion I've seen is this is all to avoid paying residuals to the people who worked on those shows. So, they're probably not going to receive a physical media release either.

HBOMax Explained and Streaming Service 2022 Year End Review!

To put a lot in perspective with HBO Max - at the start of the year I was worried about the consolidation of the anime industry and how bad this was for competition when Sony/Funimation bought Crunchyroll, and what this would mean in the long term. After Discovery+ bought Warner Brothers (who...

D&D General How are locks so hard to open?

I think it also bears mentioning that depending on the circumstances, some locks might not be in the best of shape - a locked chest in a dungeon might be one the occupants recently brought in with them... or the chest might have been sitting in the dungeon for quite some time and hasn't been...

WotC Wizards D&D Japan releasing cool art.

Going from the automatic translation on Twitter, it looks like they're doing an animated commercial (PV is short for "Promotional Video" for the starter set with each of the pre-gens that are included in the box. The thread has the character designs for each of the characters and their voice...

D&D General One Piece of Art IX (Wildcard)- What NON-D&D Art Inspired You to Love D&D?

Well, I could see someone saying that this technically is D&D art, but it's not official D&D art - and to be specific, it's the thing that the art is attached to.

Looking for help finding early Dwarven Forge ads

I'm currently in the middle of working on a project, and I'm trying to find some early Dwarven Forge ads or coverage from either KoDT or Dragon Magazine. Unfortunately, while there are indexes of articles from Dragon and KoDT, there aren't indexes of ads. Can anyone help point me towards what...

WotC Filing: Wizards of the Coast makes up roughly 70% of Hasbro's value

Do you have a source for this - just so I can bring that up for other people who decide to get into the "WotC should get rid of Hasbro, just like these corporate raiders activist investors said they should!" nonsense.

RPG Evolution: What Makes a Show "D&D"?

I'd say protagonists who are fallible in... adventuring-specific ways - not just in terms of having general character flaws. To use an example from Legend of Vox Machina, the bane of Vox Machina's existence is doors. To use another go-to for games which, while not D&D, have the resonance of a...

D&D General Classic Gold Box D&D CRPGs coming to Steam

They are graphically closer to the Might & Magic games (the first 2) and mechanically using AD&D 1e instead of 2e. So, very few memorable NPCs with interesting plotlines, the audio is PC speaker (unless you edit the DOSbox settings to enable Tandy audio - which I recommend), no party banter...

D&D General Classic Gold Box D&D CRPGs coming to Steam

Actually, no. The main money sinks in the game are training expenses and (if you do the Valhingen Graveyard quest) Restoration Spells at the temple. Because I forgot that the game isn't totally RAW - it doesn't require you to keep track of food and spend money on rations and light sources.
