D&D General Best NPC Classes (Dragon Magazine)

IIRC The Commoner class was introduced in Imagine magazine.

    Planescape Primalshard: other "echo" plane.

I'm not grokking the Phantomrift. The inhabitants would need to move around, trade, eat, sweep the streets, harvest, and so on, so PCs would see that going on.

D&D General Kratos, God of War, CR 32, 5th Edition stats

Ah right, I'd forgotten about that sort of thing. I'll have to go read up on it. But the idea was to do away with extra numbers. So you might say that 5 / day (or whatever) Kratos can empower his Strength to the Legendary tier, then define the Legendary tier and what it can do elsewhere. Thus...

    D&D General Campaign Idea: feedback/ideas?

Can I nuance this? How about the old BBEG possessed the forest on its defeat? Maybe it started with just one tree or fungus but by now its influence has spread throughout the forest?

D&D General Kratos, God of War, CR 32, 5th Edition stats

A modest suggestion: for Legendary Strength, just say that Kratos automatically succeeds on any Strength check, no matter what is tried. You might limit automatic success to non-divine opponents and obstacles and give him advantage against divine ones. This avoids the problem of saying it's...

D&D General How to work with players who wont accept any setbacks/defeat?

Do your players spot the way out? If not, perhaps you need to be more obvious.

D&D 5E (2014) Viability of my Paladin Build?

Ah right. I thought you took both from 16 to 17.

D&D 5E (2014) Viability of my Paladin Build?

Which fighting style did you take? Hmm... dark elf. Not so good above ground. I remember in one of Feist's Midkemia novels there's an elf who turns from being evil. "I have returned." You might like to work that in at some point, stopping being a dark elf and becoming some other sort of...

    Planescape Primalshard: other "echo" plane.

I think a better analogy might be oxbow lakes - remnants of meanders - for the timeghylls. But I'm not grokking aqueducts and uchronic demiplanes. Anyway, this is seriously cool stuff you're creating.

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Default Playstyle of 5E "Monty Haul?"

We've had several threads on this. I found it particularly valuable in 3E for getting rid of old gear. Otherwise magic items just accumulated - the Christmas Tree effect. You just need to forewarn players that it will happen and then get them used to it. Any time from 8th level on you could...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Default Playstyle of 5E "Monty Haul?"

And if that becomes a problem, a Disjunction is a swift solution.

    D&D 5E (2014) How should I improve stoneskin?

I listed one possible abuse upthread. Fair enough.

    D&D 5E (2014) How should I improve stoneskin?

And how about later on, when the PC has more 4th level spells? How about when the PC is casting from a scroll? Perhaps one they created? Think about how the spell can be abused.

    D&D 5E (2014) How should I improve stoneskin?

Why? Stoneskin significantly ameliorates a spellcaster's primary weakness: relatively few HP. That should carry a heavy cost. And I urge you to think about how it can be abused. Consider, for instance, a Fighter with Heavy Armour Mastery using the standard spell (perhaps via an item), then...

Dragonlance Building a Dragonlance character, according to DDB.

One was featured in one of the early collections of short stories. It had managed to refine something it called Gnomium and then from that created something it called Plus-Gnomium...

    Planescape Primalshard: other "echo" plane.

It's weird. It's wild. It's wacky. It's an interesting concept. Go for it!

D&D 5E (2014) Wheelchair options. Do these seem balanced?

    Why would it need balancing?
  18. Quartz

D&D 5E (2014) Wheelchair options. Do these seem balanced?

A small restriction should be that the user of a non-magical chair can only wield a one-handed weapon or a shield in close combat, but not both. The person in the chair needs one hand on the weapon or shield and one on the wheel of the chair to manoeuvre.

D&D 5E (2014) I Am Once Again Asking for Your ... High Level Adventures

I fear the swinginess with such disparity. Have you looked at using a much lower CR monster but adding the Mythic trait from Theros? Basically a one-off instant regeneration from death. Or perhaps eight-off for a feline!

    D&D 5E (2014) Homebrew: Advanced Fighting Styles

You don't need to. Spear + Shield + PAM + Duelling style works just fine. Yes, you do a base of (1d6 +2) + (1d4 +2) damage, but that's fine. Giving an additional +2 per attack would give +4.
