WotC WotC Makes Over $1B In 2021!

Totally agree! As somebody who was young in the beginning of the 90s, Vampire was such a product of its time as a RPG product could ever be. Personal horror and angst.

    Pathfinder 2E PF2 house-rules / variant rules

Thanks for the reply Philp. I can see how it could be frustrating. Perhaps I will try it out, and see how it goes.

    Pathfinder 2E PF2 house-rules / variant rules

On Reddit I read about a very interesting house rule that some had great success with: Because of Flourish you wouldn't be able to spam spells, but you would open up more tactically options for casters. Comments?

    D&D 4E 4e far more tactical than 5e? or just a little

Wotc has shown itself quite benign in this regard. The problem is that to make 4e work you would need a system with all the powers built in. That’s a lot of copyrighted text. I have thought about this myself. Would be a very fun project and 4e just screams for digital tools.

    D&D Older Editions

On the other hand, if the earlier editions, are what makes you tick, now you can limit yourself to that, and not be burdened by all the 5e posts.

    D&D 4E 4e Madness for the holidays!

A screenshot of FG running with the Keep on Shadowfell module, and the 4e Monsters module loaded with all monster from all of the 4e materials. Probably the best full 4e experience currently available.

    D&D 4E 4e Madness for the holidays!

I currently play 4e on Roll20. Obviously it means entering all the monsters and powers manually but it works remarkably well I think. I set up all the monsters with token action so I don't have to open up a sheet. Also using some condition markers it is easy enough to see if someone is marked...

Free League is Demiplane’s Latest Nexus

They wouldn't need to license it. A great deal of 3.5 is OGL. And would synergize well with PF1. Also, currently Fantasy Ground has license for quite a lot 2e, so it could even be possible Wizards woul be open for a license for older editions (since they already are).

Free League is Demiplane’s Latest Nexus

Would love it if 3.5 and Pathfinder 1 would be supported. There’s a lot of OGL content and a an ok sizable player base. Fingers crossed.

    D&D General Why is D&D 4E a "tactical" game?

    (y) On this I mostly agree. The feel is markedly different than other editions. And different players would like different editions. My group just started a 4e campaign after 3 years on 5e (with great success). I still need more play time to pass judgment. But I think my group is extremely...

    D&D General Why is D&D 4E a "tactical" game?

Sorry, it is not a board game. D&D 4e is a role-playing game that pretty much requires the use of miniatures and battle maps. That is true. But that does not in any way preclude the role-playing part. At all. There are even better support for role-playing IMO than e.g 5e, since 4e gives better...

    D&D General Why is D&D 4E a "tactical" game?

Again you say "it is a fact". But it is not a fact that it is a "boardgame". It is not a fact that it is a "disjointed game". I know this is how you feel, and your experiences and all. And that is cool and all, but stop presenting your experiences as facts.

    D&D General Why is D&D 4E a "tactical" game?

3%? That is simply not true, I'm sorry. Now I don't see why it matters really. But many of the class description have many combat dealing features in 5e. Then there's all the combat dealing spells. If you include 4e powers as "combat rules" surely 5e combat dealing spells need to be includes as...

Roll20's Latest Usage Report: D&D Steady, Cthulhu Down!

It’s simply not true that Roll20 doesn’t actively develop PF2 content. One month ago they released AP 3 and 4 of Strength of Thousand Suns as well as Guns & Gear and Lost Bazar. They are actually trying to stay current on the Paizo releases and also just released a Starfinder adventure.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

It might not be a goal. But that a game about swords, dragons, and monsters from folklore, also teach the gamers about said folklore topics seems to be (in my book anyway) an added benefit. Just like a game about stock trading might teach and pique a gamer's interest in finance. D&D/PF is...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

There is no harm at all. I am merely stating my opinion. They can absolutely (obviously) do what they want. I just find it editorially lazy. I mean Soul Cage? What a boring word. And why shouldn't D&D/Pathfinder educate? Is that a bad thing? What a peculiar stance.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

I definitely think it's sad that to borrow words from different cultures and histories is seen as a bad thing. It makes for a culturally poor world IMO. Some years ago when I read about phylactery I googled it and ended up reading many interesting things about greek and jewish history. If it has...
