On Incredible Creatures vs Menagerie of Mayhem: I was going through both in search of adversaries and environments for my DH game, and I think Incredible Creatures is the superior product. I would love it is MoM was longer, but even ignoring that, the ideas in IC are cooler IMO.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

It is probably a "me" thing: I tend to like one and done experiences, so I can try something new. it does not mean that HZD2 is not as good or better than 2, just that I don't need that experience again. That could be why I also bounced off OW2: been there, done that. Every once in a while a...

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

If enough people are using it that way, then it is a word with multiple definitions. That is how words work.

    Crows Officially Announced by MCDM

I think the intent is to make sure there is always something to support One More Room -- which is very much what you want. You want PCs to push as far as they can before deciding to bail. D&D, or even Shadowdark, does not generally do this well because there is often not enough downside to...

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

Fair enough. it's a peeve. I don't like that word. it is a synonym for "lie" and tends to poison discussion. Anyway, on the subject of characters having similar narrative weight regardless of their power level: I am generally ambivalent about such mechanics. they CAN work if everyone is in, but...

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Love this game. one of the first games in a very long time that I actually finished. I started the sequel when it first came out but bounced off for some reason.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I should reload avowed. i got about 10 hours in before the companions annoyed me to death. Or go back to Outer Worlds 2, but it did not really hook me the first tiem around (after maybe 8 hours).

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I really want to try those but alas I do not own a Switch. If only Nintendo released those for PC.

I think that is why you mostly see new adversaries and environments, and campaign frames. The work on classes and domains is HARD.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

The point was I was asking for a game with a Skyrim like play loop: pick a direction toward a marker on the map, walk that way and explore, shoot some bandits or fight a monster or whatever, see a little story painted in campsites and skeletons, repeat.

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

    That's a little extreme, don't you think?

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

YES. "Balancing" Tolkienesque elves against humans, hobbits, whatever is a mistake. They are intentionally superhuman. Both?

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

There are some folks using it as a synonym for "linear." For the record, i agree with you that it has a bad reputation, which is why I use "rollercoaster" when I am talking about a highly linear, forward driven adventure structure that is also fun.

Oh, I thought you had played it and that is why you were suggesting it.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

There are folks in this very thread not using it that way.

Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

I think 3 books could pretty much cover the SW Universe, assuming you were given tools to easily model things not in the books. Games don't actually need the supplement treadmill.

    Crows Officially Announced by MCDM

I am not sure I understand your confusion. The system insentivies, not demands. If some theoretical player decides to nerf themselves by not picking up the acid splash spellbook because they think of themselves as a barbarian, well that's player agency I guess.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

That's part of the point: there is no singular definition.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Isn't it full of mandatory cut scenes and mandatory slow-ass subsystems like hunting and making camp and stuff?

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

Here's that definition thing again. If you only use "railroad" pejoratively, then sure.
