    My 13th-level druid... wow...

A few spells from some of the newer splatbooks (mainly from Complete Mage and Spell Compendium) seem really nice, so I had to see what my character could do with them... and I was impressed :D I just had to share :) MARANZEL Male Gnome Druid 13 Huge Magical Beast Init +3; Senses Listen +19...

    Pricing a ring of gravestrike

IIRC, a rogue in one of our campaigns found/bought/had it custom-made for 5,000 gp, usable 3/day.

    HP: how many per level?

In my group case, it might be because of the way d4 classes are built. Well, wizards anyways, since we only had one sorcerer ever, so far. Most of our wizards have high Con, in the 14-16 range. We used to create characters with 35 point buy, and with 18 Int (16 points), that would leave 19...

Is the barbarian too front loaded?

I also went with "slightly, but not a big deal" option. One-level dips don't worry me (especially, as others have mentioned) they usually introduce the XP penalty. Plus, IMO, people will only do it if it fits the character concept, as multiclassing (even if it's just one level) usually waters...

    HP: how many per level?

We roll (with the default maximum at 2st level), but each type of die has a different re-roll value, that is: d4 - you get what you roll d6 - re-roll on a 1 d8 - re-roll on 1 or 2 d10 and d12 - re-roll on 1, 2, or 3 You only get one re-roll (this is an addendum we added last session, since...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

Reading this thread and looking at Nail's original compariosn between the two classes made me realise that there's no real point (IMO) in comparing the two, even if I was one of the people who originally asked for comparison. The number of options for both classes (with fighter's having a slight...

Ideas for a city watch detective

I'll second that. It's a neat little 5-level PrC that one can qualify for at 3rd level. It gives some magial abilitiey (zone of truth, discern lies, true seeing), a couple of bonus feats, and contacts (NPCs that provide you with services and/or information). Definitely worth looking into, if you...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

Thanks for posting the info. It's interesting, and really made me understand how ungrateful such comparisons are, because you (the generic you, not aimed at Nail) always try to make it all "balanced", and thus make some sub-par choices. For example, the fighter in the example uses a sling at...

    Point Buy: how many BPs?

My sneaky fiendish plot is to gradualy lure my players to use the 28 point-buy :] So far, due to the vocal minority, we've used 35 points (and even that got complaints as being too low  ). In my current Eberron game I ruled it's 32 points, because action points make a difference :P...

    Cleric of Athena?

Here you go: Athena Greater God Symbol: An owl Home Plane: Olympus (that's in D&Dg Olympian cosmology) or Arborea/Olympus/Olympus in traditional D&D/PS "Great Ring" cosmology Alignment: LG Portfolio: Wisdom, crafts, civilisation, war Worshipers: Paladins, fighters, monks, judges, constables...

    Krynn Minotaur

IIRC, every maze has a hidden exit somewhere. It's just extremely difficult to find, and the mazes themselves are "infinite" (again, IIRC), or at least just plain huge. Can't find my DL book now, but IIRC, a couple of races are a bit more powerful that their standard versions. Elves get both...

    New FAQ 23/11/06 [Merged]

Depends on the class and the character's Wisdom. My 13th-level druid has Wis 24 (with a periapt of wisdom +4), and that gives me a +8 AC bonus for 13,000 gp. A +3 full plate costs 10,650 gp (IIRC) and gives you a +11 AC bonus. True, monk's belt also increases touch AC, while standard armour...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

If it's no trouble, I'd like to see the builds (if for no other reason, I'm interested in ways to build a fighter :)) On my side, here's a Psychic Warrior that adventures alongside the warblade I posted earlier. He's about as effective in combat, at leat at these low levels (although the...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

It would be interesting to see a well-built (test) fighter, to compare him to Nail's warblade. I'd do it myself, but I'm lousy at optimisation of any sort. Any takers? :) However, here's a warblade from actual play, from the Eberron campaign where I DM. the character is not overly optimised...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

Because, IMO, a fighter is more customizeable (due to a large number of feats and feat slots available) and simpler and more elegant to run. And because I like it more :P Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying warblade is bad (in any way), it's just that I (and, supposedly, a few other people)...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

This is the only warblade ability that I believe is unfair to the fighter. And, IMO, I've house-ruled it so that the fighters get it as well. Might be diminished, for some players. I'd, generally, play a fighter over a warblade. Regards.

There HAS to be a way to build a drow mage...there has to be.

When using the default XP reward method (where each character gets about the same amount of XP, with lower-level ones getting slightly more (the ratio is, IIRC, about 1:1.3, give or take), the LA +1 character will lag in XP even at 20th level (although the diference is virually negligible at...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

So can a spellcaster. There's always at least 5% chance that you'll fail your save. Anyways, with the PHB II a figter can, at the cost of mere two feats, get his Con bonus to his Will save. Another feat, Combat Focus, will give him a further +2 bonus to Will saves after he scores a hit in...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

I think the fighter is able to hold his own in the game, especially with PHB II feats (which, I believe, should be allowed in the game that aloows for various other accessories). IMO, the one thing warblade definitely has over fighter is his Weapon Aptitude -- a fighter should be able to gain...

There HAS to be a way to build a drow mage...there has to be.

I'm in the camp supporting the drow +2 LA. The spell resistance is highly useful (if the opponent is of a level equal to your ECL, his spells won't affect you 40% of the time). And as someone who played a drow wizard (albeit shortly), I suggest putting 18 in Int (assuming point-buy, of course)...
