D&D's Obelisk Plotline Was Supposed to Be Resolved in Vecna: Eve of Ruin

You could create your own adventure with less work than it takes to fix Eve.

Homebrew Do people in your game world put cheese on their apple pies??

I'd flip them: mild apple with sharp cheese.

You are way overthinking this. He was telling a moderately amusing and engaging anecdote intended to align with fellow girl dads.

D&D's Obelisk Plotline Was Supposed to Be Resolved in Vecna: Eve of Ruin

Polygon legit has the worst TTRPG coverage on the mainstream internet.

Why aren't megacorps as big a part of Steampunk as they are of Cyberpunk?

On further thinking about it, it doesn't really matter if steampunk is anti-capitalist or whatever. The true defining feature of cyberpunk (of which steampunk is basically a subgenre according to Jeter) is that it is about technoshock. And steampunk can do that. Does most steampunk? I don't...

Even disregarding pie, apple and cheese is exquisite. You, friend, are missing out.

    Difficulty Numbers: Scaling, or Static?

I think you are overthinking it. Hard is "hard" for people without a bonus or advantage based on class or background. Hard might be "easy" for someone that has both. The DC doesn't change.

D&D's Obelisk Plotline Was Supposed to Be Resolved in Vecna: Eve of Ruin

Exactly. You don't need world shaking stakes for high level adventures.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

They are also insane, by definition, so stories like them seeking out a reincarnated lover or kidnapping a priest to resurrect a lost confidant, or whatever.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

I don't understand how these things are at odds. You can absolutely craft a linear adventure specifically for the players at the table.

D&D's Obelisk Plotline Was Supposed to Be Resolved in Vecna: Eve of Ruin

I think lichdom is less about power and more about immortality. I would think most liches stay hidden in their fortresses or demiplanes, conducting unspeakable magical experiments, and occassionally sending minions out to find subjects for said experiments.

    Difficulty Numbers: Scaling, or Static?

I was operating under the assumption that it was brought up in a TTRPG thread in order to discuss the practice in TTRPGs. I can't think of a reason otherwise to bring it up. But whatever. Carry on.

I think he got Stranger Thingsed into being Generic BBEG, rather than his role as God of Secrets.

Such a strange take to me. I don't know how many "can you believe these kids?" stories I have told over the course of my kids' lives, but it is a lot. This is perfectly normal behavior, for everyone involved.
