Dragonlance Origin of a tiefling on Krynn?

I can see Otik spitting out his ale when one of these walks into the Inn of the Last Home... That out of the way, I've seen 4E proposals (when tieflings entered the literature) that tieflings are shards of Chaos, but that doesn't thematically have anything to do with DL1 and would confuse...

    D&D General The DM Shortage

Same old problem as when I started, different decade. Circa 1989. Many wanted to play D&D. No one knew the rules so no one wanted to DM. So, yours truly fearlessly asked for the "Red Box" for his birthday. Yours truly read it and it had a 1-person dungeon crawl. Yours truly had already read...

Dragonlance Wizard of High Sorcery Test

Saw that too and purely coincidentally on the timing; we have nothing to do with one another.

Dragonlance Wizard of High Sorcery Test 1.0

I've seen across the internet requests for a Test and rough ideas for what people have done, but never a fleshed-out adventure. So, like any good DM, I have shamelessly borrowed and repurposed ideas from forums and from older edition adventures. With some tinkering (it is customized for an Irda...

Level Up (A5E) Barbarians without "reckless attack"

True, looking below p450 at knocking enemies unconscious, they gain a level of fatigue. Well, more and more it just feels the barbarian sucks if enemies can negate its core feature, which (right now) at a 5% proc rate, isn't happening much anyways. Hrrmm....

Level Up (A5E) Barbarians without "reckless attack"

Looking more carefully at the Adventurer's Guide (p450), I think I misread about negating crits because monsters die at 0hp and don't accrue injuries (like fatigue or strife). In short, monsters don't get fatigue, only NPCs, unless you want your NPCs to be special and follow PC rules. That seems...

Level Up (A5E) Barbarians without "reckless attack"

Something along those lines would seem a bit more palatable to my player. And that. I don't want to overpower a class, and I can see that at levels 12+ (critting on 15% of d20 rolls) that advantage would be a nasty, likely broken innate combo, but gives me something to think on. Pure...

Level Up (A5E) Barbarians without "reckless attack"

We've started our Dragonlance campaign (pure coincidence with Morrus's timing!), and my gamers have been used to 5E rules. Our "barbarian" gamer hit level 2 and realized the 5E feature of "reckless attack" no longer exists, instead replaced with a 5% chance to have a hit do something special...

    D&D 5E (2014) Choose 3 to protect you (a poll)

    1. PCs. Because they're going to probably have amazing magical items and abilities. 2. Dragon. Because I'm going to get on its back, relying on its frightful presence to keep nearly everything away, and fly really high up, out of range of everyone. I'm not worried about storm giants because I'll...

D&D General what is the worst race in dnd?

The post language is a bit incendiary, but I'll bite. Pistol-wielding space hippos? Or anything "half-vampire" or "half-drow," all the powers, none of the drawbacks.

D&D General Do you like LOTS of races/ancestries/whatever? If so, why?

That's my feeling. And caveat - it's my feeling, not my belief that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. We just started a 5E Dragonlance campaign, old-school style with races. It's my favorite setting, along with Dark Sun, because of the richness of cultures and how detailed they were. You...

RPG Evolution: Thankful for My Players

#1, We Get Along. Ditto. #2, We Prioritize the Game. Ditto. OP echoed my thoughts for #1 and #2. #3, We're all working adults. We all hail from a similar walk of life, so we get it when someone has a family thing or a work thing, or if the DM uses adult language and references at the table...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance Minis from WizKids

Mechanical leg(? counterpart to Theros when he got the silver arm?), wizard looks cool, elf/dwarf/knight look like every other mini out there, kender with a WTH is that hat. Ok start, at $50 for 6 minis, meh.

Dragonlance WotC Officially Confirms Takhisis and Tiamat Are The Same

This is going to ruin my DL game. I just spent hours memorizing the creation story of Krynn, the one where it has its own pantheon that isn't Tiamat and Bahumat, the one where Chaos does this and that and the gods discover souls and Takhisis makes life have needs so it can suffer and be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Campaign Confounders (idea discussion)

I've posted this before in response to a similar question (someone else, been too long, gets credit for the original ideas). (1) Don't make your combats about "fight to the death" and (2) spice monsters up by giving them bonus and reactions. MM monsters by default are boring. One of my...

Dragonlance Building a Dragonlance character, according to DDB.

It's the setting + adventure + comradery that makes a campaign, not your "so cool it will turn heads" half-dragon half-drow dual-wielding paladin of Mask (er some DL gawd). That said, that's a pretty traditional slate for DL campaigns, ignoring for now the more exotic minotaur, Irda, and sea elves.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dominate Person vs. Suggestion

To avoid confusion, the mental command of dominate person was to bring the artifact weapon that was already in hand. Suggestion then tried to thwart it. I do like to award clever play, when possible.
