    Using races differently from stereotypes

I've always wanted to run a campaign that included the insectile elves that were featured in Savage Species. Something about the idea and picture always appealed to me.

    Hit Points and D&D

This discussion reminds me of my first and only experience with Rolemaster. I spent two hours making a highly complex character (ruleswise and backstory) and in the very first combat roll, a goblin killed the character with a critical. I thanked the GM for the sodas and his time, and headed...

A question about Paladins and killing.

I agree with Frank. There's a difference between good roleplaying opportunities and a DM just laying "moral" traps to cause a paladin to fall.

A question about Paladins and killing.

New at 11... 10 acolytes slaughtered at St Peter's Church of the Merciful, when three baby trolls decided to devour them due to hunger. Intial reports say that the acolytes were attempting to redeem the trolls' souls when devoured. We interviewed a local expert on trolls, Rick the Ranger, and...

    Funniest DM/player faux pas

Glad you liked it Olaf :) I think our game is 80% comedy and 20% actual play, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Psion! Help! River of Worlds

The idea that struck me is that they could start out working for one of the evil overlords in thier schemes, as they gained power, they could move towards freelancing among the overlords, with an eventual goal of gaining enough power to break down the gates to the good realms. You could have...

    Funniest DM/player faux pas

My most recent was when the party was fighting a monk bad guy. I was reading his bonus feats (Stunning Blow, Deflect Arrow and Snatch Arrows) and got a little tripped up. "He uses his Stunning Snatch feat to catch the arrow" The game was pretty much shot for the rest of the night.

    Piratecat ruined my D&D game

Ive been using APs for a while now, but the pcs mainly hoard them to stay alive. I'm about to add swashbuckling cards for more unpredictable stuff. Do you just give two at the beginning of the session or have some other system for it?

    Introducing new characters

New PC: "Could you untie me? The blood is rushing to my head from being tied upside down. And toss me those clothes? Oh and don't bother that pile of gear over there. Its mine" Old PCs: "Sure, nice to meet ya"

    The Economics of Identify

While this is a beautiful description, I wonder if you play a standard 3.5 game. In a standard game, by 5th level, most npcs are going to be carrying a magic weapon, armor, or other items. Do you go into this kind of description for every single item? I just don't have that kind of...

    Piratecat ruined my D&D game

I know the feeling. I wish my campaign had half the cohesiveness and metaplot of Sagiro's and Pkitty's games. Realizing that character turnover is probably the biggest killer of continuity, I've done a lot of things to keep people playing the same characters. I've added action points that...

    The Economics of Identify

I allow for a modified version of Identify, takes 8 hours and costs nothing.

[Age of Worms] Law in Diamond Lake? (Potential spoilers!)

My version of the law in Diamond Lake was according to Ballabar Smenk, who pretty much ran the town. (My version of Diamond Lake was HBO's Deadwood, with Smenk being Al Swearengen. I believe Phindar was in that game). If Smenk would profit from it or it didnt hurt him, then it was legal...

The Golden Raspberries -- Snakes On a Plane was robbed!

I guess they're entitled to thier opinion. I'll stand by the statement though...critics should still be eaten. :) (I thought that part of the story was dead-on)

The Golden Raspberries -- Snakes On a Plane was robbed!

    M. Night Shamalyan is right...all critics need to be eaten by CGI grass-wolves. Lady in the Water was a good movie.

    Battlestar Galactica 22/01/07

Now, if they could just box the Apollo/Starbuck love storyline. Good episode, liked Helo chastising Rosilyn.
