    Rule of Three 08/08/2011

Which would be why the summer solstice is also known as "midsummer" :erm:. Even if you use astronomical definitions, instead of common-sense ones (or meteorological ones for that matter), solstices and equinoxes mark the middles of seasons, not the beginnings/ends.

    Order of the Stick #800

I think Wedgeski's point, though he could have stated it more clearly, is that it is well-established that there are no players and no GM. The world does indeed run by D&D rules (mostly 3.5), with the exceptions coming mostly when it's funnier for it not to; but that doesn't mean it's someone's...

    Oots 0799

This was my main takeaway from this strip, too. Though I'm not sure what you're "dissenting" from - the above posts may focus elsewhere, but I don't think they're actually saying anything incompatible with your point.

Pathfinder 1E Best Paizo adventure path

Hmmm... surprised this poll and topic aren't more popular. Guess there's not much point in doing the further polls alluded to above. Still, there's some recognizable trends in the responses - Kingmaker doing very well, definitely #1 (not unexpected), and the vocal support for Rise of the...

Dragon 401 & Dungeon 192 ToC Are Up

Now there is a monster manual update article listed. :D It's labeled as "Aberrants"; since there's no such entry in the original MM, I assume that means they're doing various creatures of the Aberrant origin. Hopefully the Aboleth are among them (they would probably have been my second choice...

    D&D 3.x DM'ing Pathfinder - What's Different from 3.5E?

Thanks! Wasn't aware of that despite having actively looked for such a thing... obviously not very competently (or maybe too soon?).

Pathfinder 1E Best Paizo adventure path

I'm just asking for your favorite regardless of which system it was originally written for.

Pathfinder 1E Best Paizo adventure path

If this one seems popular, I might do more detailed polls on individual paths as a followup. One on the weakest might also be an idea - I'll bet the results would not just be a simple mirror image of these ones! I also considered making this one multiple-choice, but as far as I know I can't...

Pathfinder 1E Best Paizo adventure path

I know, a thread meant to be on this topic just started a couple days ago, but well... read it and see (vigorously towels self off). And, that one didn't have a poll. This might be the first of a series, or the only poll of this sort I ever do, depending partly on the reception it gets...

Dragon 401 & Dungeon 192 ToC Are Up

No new Bestiary article :-(. I can think of several entries in MM1 and 2 that could use updates in this style, from Orcus on down. (Though they already hit the single entry I personally most would have wanted them to (Wight).)

    D&D 3.x 3E versus 3.5E: Weapon Size

Funny you should mention this as an advantage of 3.0, because it's actually one of the reasons they switched. Your club/greatclub point is, I'm pretty sure, valid as far as it goes; but it doesn't generalize. A short sword (say a gladius) and a bastard sword (say the "longswords" I've practised...

    D&D 4E your 4E game is set...

On the other hand, current published support does make a visible difference, at least among ENWorld posters who care enough to vote in a poll such as this. I find it interesting that the #2 through #7 options are all and only those with some form of recent published support from WotC.

    Monster Update: Wights and Ghosts

I've been hoping for this for a while, and am surprised they didn't trumpet it more loudly. One of the two entries they started with was exactly the one I most wanted to see an updated version of, too (Wight).

    Assassin Executioner Question

Only ones they create. Heroes of Shadow, page 22, specifies this, but I don't find any mention of any resistance or immunity to other poisons anywhere. Characters have only the abilities it says they have.

    Does a Setting need gods?

Dark Sun gets along fine without gods. (As a game setting, I mean - from the point of view of the people who live there, it's kind of a crapsack setting). If you don't want to ditch divine classes entirely, as DS does by default, both 2E and 3E made various rip-off-able allowances for clerics of...

    Final Monster Vault Preview: Penanggalan

That swarm is just odd in both narrative and mechanical ("fluff" and "crunch" if you like) terms. I, too, would have appreciated some explanation. Perhaps it's a bunch of really old Penanggalans, their bodies long since rotted away, their heads starting to do the same, minds long since lost to...

Why did you stop subscribing to DDI?

There were a number of factors making me consider not renewing - perceived dishonesty about what was going on with DDI, disappointment with the online character builder, failure to address some serious bugs in the offline monster builder - but in the end I decided my decision would hinge on...

D&D 4E D&D 4E: Who can use poisons and how often?

The other characters don't get the Executioner's poisons for the same reason the Executioner doesn't get, for example, the mage's Sleep spell. The Poisons are basically the Executioner's daily powers (they even work a little like the Mage's spellbook does).

Another MV preview: Hurly Burly brothers

I'm just reading these previews now - they're not linked from anywhere that I can tell except the main D&D front page, so I was unaware of their existence until now despite actively looking for such things! - and the Vestapalk one seems poorly edited as well ("Birth" when "Breath" is obviously...
