I ran through this one as a player, but I think the DM heavily altered it. I do remember that while the party defeated the titular dragon, my dwarven fighter/thief, Dwur was killed in the process.

I equally dislike when people use their head canon/homebrew to argue for a rule they think everyone should accept or for the primacy of their playstyle as when people dismiss any head canon/homebrew ideas for a rule because the book does not explicitly state it.
