What's your perfect movie

I don't know if it's 'perfect', but V for Vendetta by the Wachowskis is tight; not an ounce of fat on that film: the plot moves, yet there's still time for emotional connection with the protagonist as well as a helluva plot twist (for those who didn't know it was coming, anyway). I think it hit all the targets it set out to hit.

One I'm not sure has been mentioned yet is Hot Fuzz, just for being so very carefully crafted in terms of set-ups and pay-offs while also knowing exactly what it's doing in terms of simultaneously parodying and paying homage to that specific breed of action cop thrillers. Plus it's really fun to watch.

I am Listening to "Best Movie Year Ever" (1999) and am reminded how many great films came out that year, as well as ones that might not have been "great" but were at least genre-defining and personally impactful. Just to name two: Office Space, and The Matrix (which, if you think about it, have basically the same plot).
