Your most "visceral" experience at a movie theater.

I think the biggest one was the starting scroll text on Episode I. After so many years, the vibe in the theater was electric. We had no idea that the movie would be meh, but at that opening scroll? It was pretty wild.
Same. There's something about when that opening fanfare hits and the scroll starts up in front of any Star Wars movie. It's like some instinctual nostalgic lizard brain thrill.

I've always had a very willing willing suspension of disbelief. It's something I'm grateful for.

I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey on a big screen (not when it came out - I'm not that old!) when I was too young to even kind of grasp it, but old enough and of the right mind-set to be absolutely engrossed and amazed by it. It's still one of my favorite movies. I still find it hypnotic and meditative.

I am old enough to have seen Star Wars in theaters (7 times that summer!) at just the right age, and when watching it even now I still feel the echoes of that wonder and delight.

I've made a point of seeing both Spider-verse movies in 3D, and man-o-man that is a feast.

John Williams deserves a ton of credit for that, although the visual is pretty cool too.
100% The original Star Wars trilogy would not have been the same without his music.

It's worth noting that the music explodes out of complete silence, and to match it the Star Wars logo is initially bigger than the screen can fit, and then recedes so you can see the whole thing. It's a brilliant one-two punch.
It gives just enough time for the 20th Century Fox theme to fade away. Then a moment like a paused breath. And boom.

When I was 4 my dad took me and my brother to see a Hammer Horror film at the drive in. It might have been The Horror of Frankenstein, but don't quote me. I literally shat myself.

Having not learned a damn thing (or possibly baby sitting was just too expensive) they later took my brother and I to see Jaws. I must have been 5. I did not go into the water at the beach for several years thereafter.

The folks finally took some notice and my dad watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show by himself before taking us to see it. For this last one I applaud the more lax parenting style of the 70s.
