My main complaint with 5E 2024 is that they increased complexity of character creation. It seems they realize this. Maybe this will help ease people into the complexity of full on PHB character creation. But that doesn't solve the underlying issue. Looks cool, though!

"Species" may not be the correct word. But "race" is for sure the wrong one. I've known it since I was a kid and I find it confounding that some people either don't realize the many levels of why it is the wrong word for a major RPG publisher to use, or that some people do realize it's the wrong...

In the early 80s when I started learning D&D I immediately wondered why they used the term "race". Even as an ignorant kid, it didn't make sense to me. As I've turned into an old man and become less ignorant about race, it makes even less sense to use the term for the different playable species...

This is great news. I only wish roleplaying was this universally accepted in the early 80s when I started to play. There's some trauma these new players won't have to deal with!
