    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

LOL! I am the DM. : ) Wondering if anybody knew of an official ruling of this.

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

My problem is that when you come back from the Ethereal plane with Blink, the spell doesn't specify if you moved or if you teleported you simply "return to an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of the space you vanished from." You don't walk or hop or run or crawl to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Super Monk Jumps

Here's my sticking point with example of 10 ft default "jump distance". Step of wind says "jump distance is doubled for turn", so the characters "jump distance" is now 20. Then use Ring of Jumping which says "jump distance is tripled". Since her actual "jump distance" is now 20, using the ring...

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

I agree that the spell would still be in effect if you enter the Ethereal Plane. But I'm not so sure that entering the plane would be considered movement. I can see the point, though. I was more concerned that when they pop back 10 from where they went Ethereal it was considered movement.

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

So, for the purpose of bringing the boom... you don't consider when the blinking character "return(s) to an unoccupied space of (his/her) choice" that it was movement?

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

But Blink does not say that the character "moves" after they go Ethereal. You simply "return to an unoccupied space of your choice". Almost like a teleport, although it doesn't say teleport.

    D&D 5E (2014) Super Monk Jumps

A Monk with Step of the Wind has a Ring of Jumping. Step of the Wind doubles jump distance, Ring of Jumping triples jump distance. Assuming she has the movement to do it.... her jump distance would be X6?

    D&D 5E (2014) Booming Blade and Blink

Creature is hit with booming blade. The creature then decides to use Blink. Does the spell do the boom if the creature blinks? Relevant booming blade info: "If the target willingly moves before then, it immediately takes 1d8 thunder damage, and the spell ends." So is Blink considered a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Touching and Taking Damage

Yes, That's how I interpret it too.

    D&D 5E (2014) Touching and Taking Damage

Using an Azer for example. It says: Heated Body: A creature that touches the Azer or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes fire damage. Does this mean the creature has to willingly reach out and touch the Azer? Or would it apply to things like the Azer having a creature...

    D&D 5E (2014) Commune with Dead

Is there an example of a spell (official 5E, previous D&D editions, 3rd party sources) that allows you to actually commune with the dead or a corpse? I'm looking for something more powerful than Speak with Dead and less powerful than Raise Dead. (Here's why I'm asking... in a recent game I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Invisibility and Items On Target's Person

According to the invisibility spell, "Anything the target is wearing or carrying is Invisible as long as it is on the target's person." My PC cast the spell, then used a rope to descend into a chamber. Because the the rope was on him when he became invisible, he claimed that the rope would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Fear with no Options

Well, we just interpret the phrase "while Frightened by this spell, a creature must take the Dash action and move away from you by the safest available route on each of its turns, unless there is nowhere to move" differently. There was a place to move. The creature just couldn't do it. In any...

    D&D 5E (2014) Fear with no Options

Problem was that the creature did have somewhere to move. But he didn't have the speed to get there. That was the issue to me. I'm happy with the solution.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fear with no Options

Thanks for the responses. I think if I could do it again, I would have warned the Bard before he cast the spell that I would allow the creature an escape action in case it would have made him change his mind on casting. In the heat of the moment, I didn't realize it would cause a problem until...

    D&D 5E (2014) Fear with no Options

My group had a creature grappled and prone. Then the bard cast Fear on it, which says that a creature can only take the Dash action, unless there is nowhere to move. It technically did have places it could move, so it would would have used Dash. But since grappled and prone, the creature had a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mounted Combat

Uhhhhh.... so does this mean a mount can be ridden and not under the rider's control? http://www.sageadvice.eu/2016/11/01/revised-ranger-halfling-bear-companion-if-i-am-riding-him-can-he-still-attack/

I think I'll add in "per DM's discretion" as a firewall against sentient cruise missiles. : )

    D&D 5E (2014) Mounted Combat

Thanks for all the responses and help. Here's what I told my group as the solution... * If the mount is unintelligent and/or under the rider’s control, the mount can only take dash/disengage/dodge on the rider's turn. The rider still has his/her full complement of turns (including their own...
