    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

In the case of the magic spells or magical abilities that grants the Invisible condition: special senses, abilities or magic are the only things the PHB directly mentions. Perception--which governs normal sight--is not used as a check to end it unless it is specified in the text. Here's the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

There were optional facing rules in the 2014 DMG, but they weren't transferred to 2024, so technically they're still usable as-is

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

That's abracadabra; goof off by your description is an action, not a spell They've been answered by @Imaro and are the same I would provide Exactly my point; Wisdom governs Perception, or the ability to notice things that are easy to miss using your senses. Neither are mentioned in the spell...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Even better: why doesn't the spell require you to roll for stealth nor does it require a Perception check to "find you"? The Perception skill specifically says it's used to notice things that are easy to miss using your senses, so why doesn't the spell require it, but the Hide action does?

Oh, we know; the sarcasm is dripping from your comments a mile away

Yeah, but @Charlaquin is just being nitpicking at this point

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

And thee line you included WAS present in the very last UA8 before the PHB release, yet people complained because it made Hide the same as the Invisibility spell, so WotC removed it. SHOCKER!!!! This is the text from UA8:

There was no such clause in the 2014 Invisibility spell either. SHOCKER!!!!

D&D 5E (2024) Wrapping up first 2-20 2024 campaign this week, some of my thoughts

Oh God, that's exactly this player I mentioned (mischievous Rogue).

In other words, you can't be targeted by sight unless the enemy has the ability to see you. Again, why are people complicating this? It's not rocket science, unless they just want it spelled out in the book because they are too literal-minded

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Oh no, there are some here definitely trolling or arguing in bad faith because this topic has been covered ad nauseum since the PHB released.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

No line in the core books say that you can be seen with normal sight from the abracadabra spell since there is no Perception check involved, so this only applies to senses, spell and abilities that say they do. Please see my post above (#273). The Purple condition cannot define how you can be...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

We're all repeating the same arguments from way back when the 2024 PHB released, but here we go again! Rules say what they do, so for those that are arguing that nothing in the condition or the spell says that you cannot be seen, I will point you to post #231. Basically, normal sight is not...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

You realize that you continue going in circles right? It has been explained multiple times that the Invisible condition is a set of benefits and that it's how you gain it that determines how it ends. Hide is a physical act of you staying out of sight and this is backed by the stealth skill; it...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Only if the target has a sense that allows them to see through the Invisible condition. Normal sight is not defined in the rules, so it follows the natural language definition...meaning it can't see someone with the condition granted by the spell since the rules don't state it can

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

I edited my previous response, but I'll reiterate: if you're doing a stealth check--defined in the rules as moving quietly and hiding behind things--then that means that you can be SEEN by normal sight. You don't roll for stealth with the invisibility spell, so that tells me magic is making you...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Easy; Hide is a physical act of a PC using the environment to remain outside a creature's sight. Hide tells you to roll a stealth (Dexterity) check, defined as: "Escape notice by moving quietly and hiding behind things", which is then used as the DC for Perception (using all your senses, normal...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

The rules only list four special senses: Blindsight: within it's range, you can see something that has the Invisible condition without relying on physical sight Truesight: You see creatures and objects that have the Invisible condition. Tremorsense: can technically let you know where a creature...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

You only need a special sense to break the Invisible condition from the Invisibility spell, not for the Hide action. I assume the other poster just cannot or refuses to separate the two Technically, Tremorsense can break through the Invisible condition from Hide due to how it works, but this is...
