What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

Sure, but that suggests a pretty one dimensional interpretation of "low int". Also, people should definitely play with other people with whom they share certain preferences. But boy would I be put out if another player judged my roleplaying my character.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

Out of curiosity, what kind of behavior would you accept as "roleplaying a low int"?

    Shadowdark: Stocking A Dungeon Example

I was surprised. I though there were more robust random monster tables. The random encounter tables provided are cool, but they are very much "encounter tables" -- the include lots of stuff not necessarily good for tocking a dungeon. i am sure someone out there has made by-level random...

    What's your perfect movie

Fellowship of the Ring. I love all 3 movies, but Fellowship is essentially perfect.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

I must have misunderstood your point. My apologies. That said: S&D having attribute point buy does not in any way make it a "point based" game, especially in a way that makes talking about those choices relative to Hero make sense.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

I don't even know what you are talking about here. The Hero example doesn't make any sense in context. D&D is not a point based game. What does Hero have to do with low Int in D&D?

Things you don’t like about DMing

I get you on immediate anxiety. Still.happens at cons for me sometimes (not so much "home games"). If there is a part about GMing -- which i love, snd far prefer to playing -- that i force myself to deal with, rather than do out of joy, it is learning rules. Even when I want you try a new game...

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

These things are not remotely the same. In Hero, a player chose a disadvantage, giving the GM explicit permission to include elements of that disadvantage insofar as the rules allowed (frequency being a MAJOR component here). A player rolling a low Int is not the same thing.

So what's the deal with solo gaming?

Explain how. I see roleplaying as a response to input. Solo RPGs don't generally provide that.

MotM is the worst D&D book I ever bought. An absolute scam.

So what's the deal with solo gaming?

I mean, all solo RPGing is "low on roleplay" isn't it?

So what's the deal with solo gaming?

For me personally (again, I am not poo-pooing writing focused solo rpgs in general) the less I have to make up, the more fun the game is. So give me concrete random tables and oracles, and good tactical options for enemies (something like the way monsters work in Dragonbane could be useful)...
