    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 PHB/DMG/MM art/layout: like or dislike?

I'm neutral on the art, but (as someone who's been very critical of WotC and 5.5 in the past) I really, really like the layout. I genuinely think they finally nailed the PHB as a rulebook that introduces the game to newbies with this layout. I'm getting inspired by it in how I layout my own...

2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

I was trying not to assume that the design I disliked is bad, but since you're being so aggressive about it let me put it this way:I think it's bad design. I think it looks objectively ugly when you put ability scores in an asymmetrical manner like this on a character sheet. And I think a...

OSR Threads Are Spread To Two Subforums

I normally check the D&D Older Editions subforum for OSR stuff, but I noticed that @Mannahnin's OSE house rules thread was on the general D&D subforum with its own proper tag. So I'm guessing the D&D subform also covers OSR to an extent? I feel like that might dilute OSR threads (and it's not...

2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

It's just that I personally dislike the design choice they made with the asymmetrical ability scores. Maybe it's just me who doesn't like it, but I feel like a multimillion-dollar company that employs professional graphical designers for their flagship product could've made something that didn't...

2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

It's not just the fact that "skills grouped by ability scores" is the default (which kinda makes sense given how few people use Skills With Different Abilities, even though I think that should be the default rule), but just the wonkiness of the way they placed the ability scores in that layout...

2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

Oh my goodness, this is so much better, there's no comparison. And the multi-million dollar corporation couldn't do this while a random guy on ENWorld could?!

2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

I like a lot of the changes they made, but two things I didn't like: The ability scores are placed asymmetrically and it hurts my eyes. Having all spells be a giant list instead of being divided according to spell levels is... Understandable to an extent, but it feels wrong to me. I realise...

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 Trailer Released

I was hoping that Lance Reddick would've been able to record for Season 3, and whoever's replacing him will have big shoes to fill. Such a terrible loss. Edit: Apparently Reddick was able to record for Season 3, so I was wrong! I am thrilled to hear his performance one last time.

User Name and Avatars: Origin Stories

I remember when GitP forums were massive and people would regularly make avatars for each other! Those were the days... As for me, my username is my name translated into Elvish. Because I'm an elf nerd like that. The avatar itself is a picrew my wife drew for me before we started dating (which...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

They could've just... You know, not made these obviously terrible decisions and not needed to listen to feedback in the first place. You know, I see people defending every weird decision WotC takes since I brought up them banning LGBT+ dice in Turkey (even though Turkey has no law requiring them...

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

Oh, this also includes the bit about them committing to release 2024 Free Rules that I couldn't find! Thanks for sharing it!

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

I mean, I think it was Einstein who said: "Two things are infinite: The universe and WotC's ability to step on rakes that they placed on the ground themselves, and I am not yet completely sure about the universe."

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

Initially, you might be right. But I do not see any chance of WotC not adding the 2024 Basic Rules for free once they get released with the SRD. So no, it's not a MEGA LOSS, it's a waiting period of up to 1 year at worst.

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

I vaguely remember WotC mentioning a Free Rules 2024 (which was to replace Basic Rules 2024) in one of the explainers they published during this weeklong mess, but I can't find it upon checking. Maybe @Minigiant is right and there will be no Basic Rules 2024 immediately, but even then I agree...

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

I'm not sure that's the case. The backtracking does not mention anything about their intention to release a 2024 version of the Basic Rules, in which case you could still access free 2024 stuff from there.

    Request: Sub-Forum for WOTC/Hasbro Post

I second @Scribe's idea that the ability to mute thread tags would help solve most of the grievances here. I think people should rightfully criticise WotC when they take a misstep (which is every other day these days), but I also sympathise with the idea that seeing nothing but WotC-bashing can...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

This black background to white text, "YOU CAN KEEP THINGS AS YOU LIKED, WE LISTENED TO YOUR FEEDBACK." message from D&D is starting to become too much of a regular thing. I'm starting to have the same Pavlovian "oh what did they mess up again?" reaction to it as CDPR's yellow background...

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

While I appreciate the nuance Snarf points here, I'm kinda with Alzrius with this one. Too many bad decisions seem to have piled up under Lorraine's tenure to argue that she was a net positive influence. Also one thing that doesn't seem to be discussed even though I remember it being common...

D&D General DnD Version History Timeline

Really informative timeline! But I don't understand why you put Flee Mortals as a separate branch from 5e, since it's a 5e monster book. The MCDM RPG might be a separate line, but I think that system is too far removed from D&D to be included in the chart at all.

Level Up (A5E) Does the Adventuring Day Rules Cover Exploration or Social Encounters?

That they do! And I have to that that is super useful when trying to spice up combat by placing it within an exploration challenge. But would you recommend assigning CRs to social encounters as well, or keep them outside of the adventuring day's scope?
