What is the Enemy Within? King of Campaigns [Spoilers]

Part Two: Death on the Reik Intro The expansive second part to the Enemy Within Campaign broadens its scope to the wider province of the Reikland… heart of the Empire. It contains some of the most memorable bits for many players and DMs and it’s fair to say it is the most polished of the...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that @ECMO3 is probably one of (if not the) most careful people when it comes to rules I know on the boards. We may not agree on everything but he plays a lot of 5e. I mean a lot. And having watched a fair few hours of their gameplay he seems like a...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

If a player requires me to read web pages on psychological theory in order to understand their interpretation of Rules as Written then it’s not looking good for them.

    D&D General Steampunkette's Bard Redesign

I guess my question would be. If we are getting extra attack on the main class (which I’m fine with) what will the subclasses that used to grant that, get?

Dungeons & Dragons Has a New Home Webpage

Yes, the website is too good. Too slick, too professional. It should look rubbish. Just by existing it undermines my arguments that WotC are fools and the game is in decline. We should boycott the website (which we were never going to visit until someone pointed it out to us) Damn those...

    D&D General Steampunkette's Bard Redesign

About 4 - 6 weeks I reckon. In fact probably 6-8 as he will be starting at level 1 with slow XP progression.

    D&D General Steampunkette's Bard Redesign

I agree with both the aim and the execution! Can’t agree more that a bard doesn’t feel right as a full caster. I have dealt with this by multiclassing. But this looks like a far more elegant solution.

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

Yeah ultimately you have to look and decide how much you don’t like the things you don’t like. I agree that there is a lot of Temp HP. In some respects that acts as a counter because it doesn’t stack which I kind of like. Particularly when it promotes cooperation between players. Though yes I...

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

This was my list of reasons to switch. Things I see as straight upgrades Weapon Masteries Starter Feats Adjustments to spells - like Counterspell and sleep. The Bloodied condition Change to inspiration More use of Proficiency bonus in feats and class abilities. Fixing GWM and SS Decoupling...

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

Horrible is a bit strong. I’ve played lots of out of print or no longer supported games as well as current ones and I know which I’d prefer. Yes of course it’s possible not to switch. But all other things being equal it’s much nicer to be part of a living thriving game than one consigned to...

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

There is of course another reason, which is just that change is inexorable. The sooner you make it and get over it, the happier you will be. The longer you go without making the change the more likelihood that your players and yourself will pick up on, read, hear or see things that you think...

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

All I will say is all my D&D groups have switched and none have regretted it. There hasn’t been a single comment or question about 2014 being better. Not one. But a lot of comments about things they like better in 2024. It’s just a better game. In the opinion of the 10 or so players in my groups.

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, New Adventure Book Featuring Red Wizards of Thay

You could well be right. The adventure outlines definitely got a lot of positive feedback in some quarters. I do think it would be abandoning published campaigns/anthologies as a way to showcasing adventures. It’s a bit like showcasing a building by showing us the frame. On the other hand...

    D&D 5E (2024) So What Is Winter's Mysterious D&D "Season of Champions"?

I posted this in the other thread too, but thought it was worth sharing. Not sure 🤔 if people are aware but the Sorcerer Kings were originally called the Champions of Rajaat. It could well refer to both the foes and the heroes of Athas. Champions of Rajaat

Why do so many campaigns never finish? Genuinely curious what others think

Precisely. I’ve had more campaigns go the full distance rather than end early. But the ones that lasted the distance took 1-2 years rather than 3-6 months. So I’d say my gaming time is made up of 80% of games that made it and 20% of games that didn’t. That said it doesn’t mean that the 20%...

D&D’s 2026 Announcements: Roadmap Contains A Mix of New and Familiar

I think extremely rare is a stretch. The many campaign books have been the backbone of 5th edition (and Pathfinder) and there are a lot of folks also making really good similar campaign books (which luckily will fill the gap). They wouldn’t do this unless there was demand. Also I’m a bit...
