    D&D 5E (2024) High Level 5.5E: Building Encounter Chains

You can easily run 5E and 5.5E combat without a battle map. Some players prefer it, but the theater of the mind still works. There is a tactical advantage of having different options across the grid, but if that's a major overhead to setup, it is not always worth it, particularly from a DM time...

    D&D 5E (2024) High Level 5.5E: Building Encounter Chains

One other thing to consider is how often the PCs are running into encounters. For dungeoneering, long rest 1/day makes sense. However, if the encounters are more occasional, then you may want to consider limiting long rest to 1/week. We did that for one campaign where encounters were much less...

    D&D 5E (2024) High Level 5.5E: Building Encounter Chains

One thing one of our DMs has done quite effectively is chain one encounter directly onto another. If you're having a fight in one room, within 2 or 3 rounds, the monsters in a nearby room will enter and join the fray, unless you've used Silence or similar methods to ensure they remain unaware...

Level Up (A5E) A5E ways of improving travel speed

It is not explicitly specified what travel speed the 7th level Wind Walk spell provides. It provides a 300' fly speed, so you can fly up to avoid difficult terrain. For simplicity, I would assume it just multiplies the fast travel pace by 10x, thus 40 miles/hour - 320 miles in the 8 hour...

Level Up (A5E) A5E ways of improving travel speed

In A5E, what are the ways to improve your travel speed? Does a faster mount or faster movement speed improve your travel pace, or not? From the A5E Trials and Treasure rules on page 54, it does, but only for one hour. With a mount at gallop pace, you travel 8 miles in that one hour, but that's...

D&D General Did you realize The Forgotten Realms is the most written fantasy world ever?

Forgotten Realms is certainly the most published D&D fantasy setting in English by a long shot.

    D&D General Unseelie Court members

For factions within the Unseelie Court, I would consider grouping them as follows vs. some of their enemies listed in red: Cailleach Bhéara, Queen Mab, Prince of Frost, Thrym vs. Aesir, Raven Queen, Seelie Court, Seldarine Cegilune (Baba Yaga), Ceithlenn, Karontor, Malabog + Celadaine, Selephra...

As Karontor's mother was unspecified and having Cegilune as his mother matches the lore very well, I added the following for him: "He is the youngest son of Annam All-Father and Cegilune (Baba Yaga), and half-brother to the other giant deities that were born of Othea. Selephra is his...

D&D 5E (2024) War Priest bonus action without War Caster Feat

The D&D 2024 one is okayish. The D&D 2014 is pretty weak IMHO, as it lacks the +1 ability score.

Agreed. The 4E Heroes of the Feywild book is very good. I did borrow a couple of things from there, such as the Prince of Frost and the Maiden of the Moon. I found a brief reference to the Red Witch in 4E Heroes of Shadow, indicating that she helped create the Vryloka. And in a couple of other...

D&D 5E (2024) War Priest bonus action without War Caster Feat

I think the intent was that Clerics and Paladins could cast their spells while wielding a weapon and shield. The game balance of some spells having somatic components but not material is to prevent stacking a shield with other defenses such as the Shield spell. In practice, the distinction is...

    D&D General Unseelie Court members

I am inclined to portray the Unseelie in the manner in Changeling the Dreaming, desiring change, rather than being evil, though some are. The Seelie represent Spring and Summer; whereas the Unseelie represent Autumn and Winter. The Seelie have abandoned the cyclic shift of Fey power between the...

D&D 5E (2024) War Priest bonus action without War Caster Feat

That would result in the War Caster feat being unneeded in most cases, but it is already seldom needed with draw/sheathe juggling. Something that should be cleaned up for 6th edition - just get rid of somatic only spells, making somatic something that is done with a focus or material component.

D&D 5E (2024) War Priest bonus action without War Caster Feat

For spells with V,S,M components, because the shield with holy symbol emblazoned on it is the Cleric's divine focus, there is no issue. It is only spells with V,S components that requires a hand free. The way to get around that is sheathing your weapon. So on a round when he needs to cast a...

Yes. I did see a few good references to relevant Archfey in the Dresden Files. I don't think that I borrowed anything from there directly, but some of the mythological references were helpful to follow up on.

    D&D General Unseelie Court members

I have taken a further look at the Seelie Court, and I can expand on the Forgotten Realms wiki a little: The following can be included in the Outer Court, if so desired: Aerdrie Faenya, Hyrsam, Lurue, Morwel, Puck (though Sqeulaiche fills this role in the Inner Court, and may well be synonymous...

First and foremost, I am looking for Forgotten Realms references, then other D&D references, and falling back on mythology and folklore. Thank you for the suggested references.

I have added Selephra, the Bramble Queen, to the list of Unseelie.

I am not planning on it, because the Seelie Court is already quite well documented. For example, 12 members of the Inner Circle + Outer Circle of the Seelie Court are listed here: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Seelie_Court

Correct. The Raven Queen is not part of the Unseelie Court, but she can fit in well there. Yes, the Unseelie Court has gone through multiple renames and crossovers, which is why I mentioned Dusk/Gloaming/Twilight/Winter court as alternate names for it.
