    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

there are non-elf games that include Cthulhu, while nearly all elf games ALSO include Cthulhu. Ergo, Cthulhu is more over used than elves (dark, hawt or otherwise).

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

I am not sure of the connected here. What do you mean by "so they could better survive"?

Is there a more overused thing in TTRPGs than Cthulhu?

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

Did they? Was there a portion of the playtest that actively asked "Should levels 1 and 2 be useless to everyone but the newest players?"

Let's talk about system options versus character options.

I have done "naked GMing" before and enjoy it, but have not used it for the purpose of trying to build a foundation for a new system. Interesting idea. Again, it is waaaaay too early for that. I am just in the conceptual stage and interested in what folks think about these topics independent of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

Page 43 (as pointed out by @billd91 ) says "It is particularly recommended starting at level 3 for seasoned players." I find this interesting. If they know that level 1 and 2 are training wheels, why are they in the PHB and not just part of the starter set? What is the point of having 2 useless...

    D&D 5E (2024) What Is 2026's Big Adventure

You want to use a very narrow definition that actually goes against the whole point of discussion. B&G can (and are) make a Platinum Edition of things that you decided are not "big adventures." That is the case here as well.

    D&D 5E (2024) Unfreezing the Narrative

That is just not true. People may have moved. Someone else may have used a spell. Another spell may have reduced its number of available rounds. Conditions may have expired. It is extremely rare for the state of play to exactly the same at the end of a round as it was at the start, even if...

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

That is kind of the long way around, isn't it? "We recommend starting at 3rd level for seasoned players" is not really the same thing as "We DO NOT recommend starting at level 1 for seasoned players." But, yes, it is semantics and interpretation.

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: Should I make the switch to 5.5? (SOLVED)

I voted No simply because I do not think 5.5 is an upgrade. At best, it is annoying in its small changes. At worst, it actively messed some things up. Sure, the MM is marginally better than the 2014 MM, but even then you have a TON of better MM to choose from.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

I think that is overstating it. The PHB says "typically adventurers start at level 1" but does acknowledge that the GM may start the campaign higher. What makes you think it "does not recommend" starting at 1st level?

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

(Note: this is a 5E question broadly and I don't think 5.0 vs 5.5 really matters here) When you start a new campaign, do you usually start at level 1? Why or why not? If not, what level do you usually start at? This question is only really applicable to the start of a new campaign. If you are...

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, New Adventure Book Featuring Red Wizards of Thay

At least insofar as the adventures go, the back catalog is still the catalog. So maybe this will be a capstone style adventure. If so, it would still be useful for it to have explicit guidance on how to weave foreshadowing into whatever adventure you run before it. "Replace the lieutenant with...

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, New Adventure Book Featuring Red Wizards of Thay

It occurs to me that there is another explanation: Deadfall, as an "adventure expansion" might not be a traditional single adventure with a through plot. it might be a book more similar to Savage Worlds "plot point campaigns" that presents a situation and gives you locations and statblocks for...
