    D&D 5E (2024) What Is 2026's Big Adventure

Looks like the Thay adventure is the right answer!

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In this case I know for certain it is not the thread starter -- it is that the thread became News and since the boss isn't a fan...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That's nice: being already involved in a discussion, when suddenly the owner of the thread changes and poof, it is gone forever.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Is Now OFFICIALLY Called "5.5e"

I mean, actually making a 6E would have been ballsier.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Is Now OFFICIALLY Called "5.5e"

I don't know how they would. All "compatibility" ever meant was you could run the library of 5E adventures with the new books, along with vague noises about how things would not break too badly if you ran old subclasses that had not been republished for 2024 yet. It was never some guarantee that...

Sorry, I was not specific: I was talking about the TTRPGs.

Renegade Announces It Will Publish Exodus Roleplaying Game in 2026

I have actually kind of dismissed the Renegade Hasbro games. Are they actually good?

Renegade Announces It Will Publish Exodus Roleplaying Game in 2026

So is this a new edition of the game that went to backers?

Renegade Announces It Will Publish Exodus Roleplaying Game in 2026

I continue to be surprised at just how deeply risk averse WotC seems to be with regards to RPGs and D&D -- especially since the big swings they are taking with MtG seem to be paying off. D&D is more popular than it has ever been with a huge cultural footprint and use base. You would think they...

D&D 5E (2024) How do you handle surprised but won initiative?

Really, ambushes need their own subsystem, beyond a simple surprise check. There should be a way to quantify set up and resource expenditure.

D&D 5E (2024) How do you handle surprised but won initiative?

Typically an ambush is a tactic one uses to get a major advantage over a superior foe you cannot, or would not want to, take on in a standup fight. By reducing the effectiveness of ambush to "maybe we win initiative" you undermine that, which means it is harder to have the PCs be able to choose...

D&D 5E (2024) How do you handle surprised but won initiative?

How do the players feel knowing that they can't actually get an ambush off either?

    Shadowdark Unless I am wrong

Ah. Interesting. It is not a rule I can remember ever being invoked, but a character starting with 2 5s is just as unlikely as one starting with 2 16s.

    Shadowdark Unless I am wrong

It has been a long time but I only recall you needing at least one of Str, Int, Wis or Dex of 9 to be a member of one of the core 4.

    Today I learned +

The robot isn't reading sutras. It is powered by an LLM. It is "answering" spiritual questions. It is the very antithesis of spiritual.

    New Daggerheart Campaign

I have found that mixing solos and leaders into a "boss" statblock works pretty well. As to environments: they aren't there to eat PC resources, they are there to build up Hope and Fear pools by requiring rolls.

    New Daggerheart Campaign

There are a couple good monster books out on DTRPG, and of course the official Hope and Fear supplement is out this summer. I am surprised about environments. What doesn't work for you?
