    What is currently inspiring you?

Wow, way to make inspiration feel so . . .dry. My eyes were glazing over in the third paragraph. I had forgotten how much flavor Hellboy 2 had. I remember telling a friend exactly how much I was inspired after I saw the movie. Of course, since I don't DM anymore, it faded away and was never...

    Hybrid Rules and DDI subscription

In a static, unmoving world, 4 would be best. I noticed last session that nothing sucks more than an enemy dying with unused shrouds on him. If your party focuses fire *at all*, your enemy may not survive to get 4 shrouds on him. Jay

D&D 4E [4e] Why not savor the PHB3? Major spoilers on the new races and classes.

Oooh, that extra +1 to hit vs will seems like a good design goal of superior implements. Something like that is just up my old illusionist's alley. Much better than *MOAR DAMAGE!!!!* Jay

    Hybrid Rules and DDI subscription

For some classes you might be able to fake it, but the assassin is problematic due to the way his shroud works. It would be to easy to spend 3 rounds sneak attacking while you build up your shroud, and then to invoke it on the fourth with an assassin attack. I'm not sure how they will approach...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

I have been looking at trying to make a gish with the PF rules. Probably a Transmuter/Barbarian. . . I'm kind of impressed by the little bits that a wizard would get at 1st level that would make this a little easer than in 3.5. The ability to choose a bonded item, like a weapon, rather than...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

Awesome edition war guys! Could you maybe port your edition war to another thread? One titled "edition war" maybe? Because I am kind of interested in *Pathfinder*, not OGL, Game Table, Dungeon and Dragon magazines, or any of the passive agressive sniping that has been going on for like, 15...

Paladin of Kord. Not recommended as a PC?

I kind of see this as an artifact of older edition Paladins. They used to all be LG. Now they strictly adhere to the alignment of their patron. It makes not a whit of mechanical difference (since AFAIK there are no powers or effects that reference alignment) so feel free to ignore it. As...

Please criticize and give advices to my 1st-level Wizard Build

The issue I have with you analysis Kerbarian is that a wizard's role is not to do moar damage. Sure, every party member contributes damage, and that is important, but you should be more concerned about your role. Controllers have a tough-to-define role, one that sometimes means minion killer...

How do you errata your hard copies?

lol, I had a vision of said service issuing errata for their misprints, and yet another company mailing errata for the errata, ad infinitum. . . Jay

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

Now wait a second, where is this opinion when pretty much *every thread about 4e* ends up going the same way? His points are germane to the topic at hand, since his point is that Pathfinder did nothing to address this problem in 3.5. Telling him to GTFO of your thread because you don't like...

    Standard action ends turn?

Yeah. . .move action =! movement, and movement =! move action. Some powers combine attacking and moving (look at the monk!), and some powers use your move action for things other than movement. 99% of the time, sure, you use your move to move, but as a general rule you can't split any of your...

Finalized Hybrid Rules - What's new?

This has been mentioned before, but the one exception I approve of relating to the Hybrid Talent Feat is allowing one to take it twice, but one of those uses must be for armor/defense. It can be OP, like in Abdulalhazred's Paladin|Warlock example. Granting Plate prof to that PC is a very nice...

Can a Ranged Weapon be an Implement?

The easiest way to do this is to just hold you implement in your other hand. Not the answer you were looking for, sure, but throwing hammers are one handed, so nothing really preventing you from doing that. Many artificers are going to do this anyways, given their range of melee, ranged, and...

Class Idol round 3: Top Ten

Aww, Rogue was 3rd in the last poll, but is last now! I'm guessing all the fans of rangers, wardens, paladins, etc are now voting fighter or sommat. Jay

New Lord of the Rings RPG!

Well, kinda. I'm not sure on how lorebreaking the Loremaster is, since his effects seem more tied to nature and natural things (feels like a druid to me). But the Runekeeper throws fire and lightning around like a d&d wizard. They couch it in lore explanations, but it is a little over the...

    Paragon Path: Amok Destroyer

Encounter powers with sustain are basically always on. I'd make the utility a daily. Especially with the effect of adding str damage, that is basically 2xstr to every attack. If the barbarian multis fighter for come and get it, which they should if they take this PP, then. . .wow. they are...

    Character builder printouts help

lol, well, what they don't know. . . IOW, its easy to print 4 or 5 sheets when I'm closing up shop, but I think our IS department would frown on me installing programs. That is, even if I *could* do so. Besides, everyone does their printing at work, right? Jay

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

Kind of a weak argument, since doesn't the DM have final say over like, everything? Else what good are houserules? Rule 0 and all that? Jay

    Character builder printouts help

That isn't always useful. . .I print my character sheets to .pdf so that I can print them at work if I want to. I doubt my work would appreciate me installing the CB on my computer. . . What would be awesome is installing it onto a USB thumb drive. Jay
