    D&D General The Sales of D&D vs. AD&D vs. AD&D 2nd Edition

I was afraid I was the only one! :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Paladin/Bard progression

Oops. I was referring to the comment that 5e multiclass chars had their drawbacks. Sorry for stealing the topic... (Re. Monk infusion: spellslots and some party support, but more important: it matches my character's background.)

D&D General Ed Greenwood's Original Forgotten Realms Map

You mean this one: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/166568/Ed-Greenwood-Presents-Elminsters-Forgotten-Realms It's lots of flavour, but little crunch. I liked it, but approached it as a kind of 'coffee table book'. If you're looking for hard gaming material it might not be your best pick.

    D&D 5E (2014) Paladin/Bard progression

Sacrifice in ability... yeah, somewhat. But a 5e Fighter (Eldritch Knight) / Cleric is a nice combo. Spam Fire Bolt whilst closing in for melee. Backup the monk if he / she's down. I think that's one of the combo's that works. And actually I don't mind some drawbacks on multiclass characters...

D&D General Starter set campaigns from older editions?

I didn't even ever see a 3.5 starter set in real life, our here in the boondocks... But a quick Google shows that there were actually two versions, one with and one without character creation rules. Still, can't help it: IMHO the 5e starter set had been the best of all. Only took 20+ years to...

    D&D 5E (2024) 6E When?

Yep, the (re)use of the word 'Essentials' did surprise me... And yeah, just turned my 5e Dwarf fighter into a F3C1 High Dex Low Strength Trickster Cleric Eldritch Knight Ninja dagger thrower. That casts wizardly and clerical spells... Duh...

    D&D 5E (2024) 6E When?

I don't need a 6.0 or even a 5.5 yet. But witch the much larger market (as compared with a number of years ago) and the amount of experience with 5.0 I could live with a 5.1, something with errata included, a reworked PHB with some new better clarified text, some new artwork, a few extra classes...

D&D General Starter set campaigns from older editions?

Actually, I own pretty much every starter set since 2e, en I have to say the (regular) 5e starter set just might be the best... (Though I like the box of the 4e starter set.)

Holy Crap Game Books (re: the Ptolus book)

Well, it was me who dug up that old post  if only to show of my Ptolus hardcovers

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

Okay, I didn't like the 4e rules, or the overly focus on miniatures / tokens, but your words made me grab my 4e DMG and check it out. (Almost mint, I bought PHB, DMG and MM for 4E, but couldn't stomach it after working my way through the 4e PHB.) Well, yes. Disregarding the rules it's actually...

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

Yeah, he started wearing spandex and changed his name to Robin ;) (Re. best book: today I received my hardcover Ptolus... Holy Crap Game Books (re: the Ptolus book) )

Holy Crap Game Books (re: the Ptolus book)

At the time I considered buying it (probably should have done) but didn't. Life got in the way, and this thing was expensive... Even getting it printed today, with one of the online printing services, it still ain't cheap. But... I did buy the .PDF versions, and enjoyed them immensely. So much...

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

No problem, and yeah, those two products are completely different! I wouldn't mind having the Encyclopedia Magica on my shelf...

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

Well, all it is is an index / price list. Admittedly, that's what it says on the back cover so I only have to blame myself buying it. It would have been a great book if the two thin volumes would have been combined into a thick hardcover, with descriptions of different variations. For example, a...

What's the best and worst D&D book you own from any edition?

Best and worst... Best... either something Planescape (love that setting) or Ptolus (unfortunately I don't have an original print, I had to buy the PDF's and print them and have them bound in hardcovers, looks fantastic though). I also like the old AD&D 2e PHB, but that's probably just me...

D&D General Making The Realms Come Alive

" It would be a really low moment for a player to say “naw, that’s not what happened. " I was considering the different versions of the FR maps (here) which pose a similar... eh... dilemma. But... it's easy. Do a little 'Corwin'... Corwin lied I always approach it like this: in Roger...

    D&D 5E (2014) A (good) 5E adventure for Basic Rules only

Yep. I was just surprised it was so hard to find something explicitly 'only needing the BR'. Edit: I never thought searching through the DM's Guild using the search term 'Basic Rules' Ooops! That helped. Thanks! We've been looking at quite a bit of material now, and checking out the...
