I honestly don't get it myself. Pretty much D&D through every edition has worked way better in 1-10 range than above it, so I have no idea why people want to speed-run to the unplayable part. (And then complain that their campaigns fall apart)

My reaction to the whole "1 and 2 are not real levels" is honestly the whole "these go to 11" scene from Spinal Tap. If you're meant to start at level 3...it should be level 1.

Almost no one actually involved with Dragonlance the setting wants to connect them, it is a push from outside designers. Which makes sense because it cheapens Dragonlance as its own thing for the sake of "muh multiverse".
