I can't find my screenshots of Guild Wars I. (yet, might try and boot an old computer in a day or so)
So the point of this thread is to show and reminisce about older RPG games. (I'm not going to make a rule of how old, just go with the spirit of it)
Until I find old everquest and GW pics...
I noticed that the current concept of goblins have long lost their sunlight susceptibility. I can understand that, as it would make them too similar to kobolds currently.
But I realized, since the expunging of orcs from my campaign many many years ago (late 80s?) that I really dont have a...
I clearly remember reading something that had unknown towers or citadels on the edge of the negative energy plane created by an unknown someone/thing to research.
I "thought" there was either a ring of these towers (one on the edge of each elemental plane) around the energy plane.
Might even...
Some of you may have seen my custom "cosmos", but anyway...I'm working on the final bits combining astral travel and "spelljamming".
Here's the question: Which version of arriving at a system/plane would be most fun and good for adventuring?
a. Ship drops out of astral at the outer limit of...
I've experimented with both as traditions of Magic.
Subclasses seem...easier ...but it's a commitment when starting your character.
I tried having feats as traditions, I. e. Blood Magic, Enchanter, High Magic, Eldar Magic etc. The feats were a chain, 1st feat cast 1st and 2nd level spells...
Long story short;
DnD uses "Sorcery" for innate magic users. I call them adepts.
Sorcery in my world equals diabolism, i.e conjure/enslave fiends.
So I need a new term for "sorcery point", and maybe "Meta magic"*.
This problem arose because I am creating a "Ring of Sorcery" that contains...
I really wonder based on the "use the new rule if its published guidance" if I can pick and choose between the versions of a spell, i.e. the new sleep and the old sleep spell.
At the table sure, easy. Beyond? Probably...?
The 2017 UA for mass combat had you assigning a battle rating to units based on CR and number of creatures. Then during a battle, both units would roll 1d20 plus their BR, and the winner accrued casualties on the loser. Great for in your head calculations and broad narrative, but then it falls...
Over the years I have had them combined and seperate. Looking to nail it down for my homebrew continuity and looking for constructive inputs for and against.
At work, might be a while before I can post, but I can view replies.
So....I had been on the fence, but after much thought yesterday, I cancelled my D&D Beyond subscription.
I told them "I cancelled my sub because of their poor decision to try and "revoke" the OGL after years of mutual benefit to 3rd parties and WotC, and promises that it would remain open. I...
I've been here for nearly the entire D&D ride, and at first I was concerned about "today's news". Cause I'm a big fan of Dancey and his efforts.
But I realized that it doesn't matter. I am just going to keep on gaming. Ninjas will not come to my house and take my books (and even if they did I...
I wonder how their acquisition of Beyond and digital plans will affect things like Beyond 20, a web browser extension that let you use D&D Beyond with Roll20?
I started D&D a long time ago when the genre smoothly mixed sci-fi and fantasy. So in my mind's eye, and my long running homebrew campaign, many of the planes from the D&D cosmos that were not "transitive" planes, were merely other worlds orbiting other suns in remote systems.
Magic was...
I think it would be kind of neat if the Astral Travel of spelljamming kinda worked like traversing the immaterium in 40k.
Propably would not use it for a long campaign, but it certainly has potential.
Reading a description from this link, the githyanki could be the only ones with a "space...
I don't understand how to receive emails from threads I am following (not the ones I've merely participated in).
I go to the top of the thread, click on watch and receive emails, and I dont get anything.
I went to my "watched list" and saw a check box for "email" so I checked that also.
Still...
Just a spontaneous working idea I might come back to in a couple of days after a long work week;
Soul gems "similar" to Skyrim. This is a rough outline of thoughts, please give any/all inputs*
*what was that acronym we used to label threads with that meant "review and critique fairly"?
Looking to take a greatsword and make it a magical weapon of cleaving as its magical property.
a. just say you get the benefit of Great Weapon Master when wielding the weapon.
b. just use the first half of the feat when using the weapon.
c. use the alternate rules from the cleaving through...
I've tried looking the the phrase "Full Stop" as just a term, but it always hits me right between the eyes as rude and dismissive.
I feel like people are saying "You are wrong, this is right, end of discussion" to me.
Meh, I vented, I'm good now.
