Central Maine Group Looking for Additional Players

Our group is looking to add 1 or 2 new players for a new Castles & Crusades campaign starting soon. We play in either Winslow or Clinton and get together on the first and third Saturday of each month from 1PM-9PM.

    Mordenkainen's Disjunction Question

I understand that all magic items carried get a Will save, but are all spells/spell-like effects within the AoE automatically dispelled? There is no mention of a dispel check so I figure it's automatic - it IS a 9th level spell after all. Mordenkainen's Disjunction

    Maine Gamer Shout-out!

I thought I'd start a thread I could point gamers in Maine that email me looking to join a group to. List where in Maine you are and what game systems you enjoy and your level of familiarity with the rules. Make sure to subscribe to the thread if you're interested! I'll go first: Location...

    Charge Action Questions

Charge is listed as a standard action but the text does say "move your speed as part of the charge". If someone chooses to charge do they still have a move action left? If so, any reason that charge can't be combined with the run move action for a net -4 to hit (-5 for run and +1 for charge)?

    A Campaign Without a Metaplot?

I'm currently involved in 3 different campaigns all of which are running an "adventure path" of adventures linked by a metaplot. As a DM without a lot of free time I love running an AP and as a player it's nice to feel like you're a part of something big. That said, I got to thinking about...

    Old Occupation Titles

I happened upon this website when doing a search for a job title I was unfamiliar with. It comes in handy for adding a little flavor to city encounters.

    Philip Jose Farmer

So I'm getting back into reading sci-fi again after a long horror & fantasy kick and thought I try some of Farmer's books. Riverworld sounded promising and I remember enjoying the premise of the TV movie from a few years back so I scooped up the whole series from a used book store. I just...

Maine Gamer Looking for a Non-D&D Game

Hey all! I currently play D&D every other Saturday and really like my gaming group. That being said, I'm really jonesing to play something different and my group isn't really interested in anything but D&D. I played a ton of other systems when I was a kid in the 80's and am willing to learn a...

Long Term Feasibility of a Non-blaster Wizard

My group is starting the Savage Tide tomorrow (no spoilers please!) and I'll be playing a wizard who specializes in battlefield control using such spells as webs, walls, and stat-sapping necromancy spells. I've also decided to use little if any direct damage spells. Has anyone tried this? How...

    Help with Planar Binding Spells

Hey all: I'm going to play a Malconvoker (Complete Scoundrel) in an upcoming campaign, and I need some help with Planar Binding spells. Can anyone give me some examples of the service and reward system? Thanks!

    Metamagic Focus Item?

How would you price a metamagic rod that is only useable for a specific spell? Let's say an enlarged grease spell. A lesser enlarge rod would cost 3,000 gp and works for any spell 3rd level or lower, so it should definitely cost less than that. Thanks.

    Are Readied Actions Obvious?

Can an opponent tell that you are readying one of the following actions? My thoughts follow the relevant sections from the SRD: Distracting Spellcasters You can ready an attack against a spellcaster with the trigger "if she starts casting a spell." Predictable in some situations, but not in...

    Scroll Bandolier

One of my players asked if he could buy a scroll bandolier that let's him draw a scroll as a free action. I'm pretty sure that there is such an item, but I can't remember which book it's in. Could someone refresh my memory?

    Whither Skull Trap?

Has the 2nd edition spell Skull Trap been updated to 3.x? Couldn't find a mention of it other than in conjunction with CRPGs. If not, do you think the old version is balanced for 3.x as is? Thanks.
