    Critical Success/Failures - question for the DM's

This is not techincally true; automatic success/failure is part of the core rules for attack rolls & saving throws, and critical hits are part of the core rules, but critical misses are covered in a variant rule.

Double Weapons - one item or two?

You can already do this with a double weapon, since each head is enhanced as if it were a separate weapon.

    Stacking Templates

This is definitely the best way to do it. To mix more than two races, you would have to lessen the characteristics granted by each race to represent the diluted gene pool. This is the reason why things like tieflings exist - and why "half-celestial" and "celestial" are different templates.

    Acrobatic Fighters

Is this out yet?? Because if it is, there's a problem - I don't own it yet! Unfortunately you can't multiclass as the swachbuckler fighter variant - it counts as fighter, in which you already have levels. However, you could beg your DM to let you retroactively change your 2 fighter levels (they...

Wizards: What happens when they lose their spellbooks?

Oh absolutely. But this isn't the case if he updates both spellbooks each time he learns new spells. A hundered gold pieces here and there isn't really that prohibitive.

Wizards: What happens when they lose their spellbooks?

Easy there, trigger. Yes, thanks Captain Obvious. This only seves to argue my point - wizards can create their own magical items at about half the price it costs others to buy them. They can also create items to sell. All things that make wizards more wealthy. Oh yeah, and those bonus feats...

Wizards: What happens when they lose their spellbooks?

But why would someone want to take a book they can't use? Most thieves steal things that are going to be useful in some way. It would be rarer I would think for someone to take a wizard's spellbook away just because he didn't like him, if there was no benefit for the taker. Right - all magic...

Wizards: What happens when they lose their spellbooks?

I don't really think anything rediculous needs to be done, just maybe learning a few different spells that can be cast on the spellbook to protect it, or buy a lock (hardly prohibitive in cost). PC's in D&D get tons of money if you play by the core rules as written. Granted, DM's may choose to...

    Cohort Familiars... Revisited

Yes, I'd assume that would be the only benefit. Are we on track here, Pbartender?

Wizards: What happens when they lose their spellbooks?

You know what's funny? Everyone has been very adamant about the fact that taking away a wizard's spellbook is rediculously crippling, which is of course true. But hardly anyone has mentioned the fact that wizards, as the party's most intelligent members, should be well aware of this fact...

    Cohort Familiars... Revisited

That sounds very reasonable to me. You might even want to let him hold his 6th level feat until 7th & take Improved Familiar (just to have him a bit earlier), then he can take Leadership at 9th & immediately make his familiar his cohort.
