    D&D 5E D&D doesn't need birds

Wait, what? Who lays eggs on a long rest?

D&D General On the subject of Hobgoblins

I always figured that halfling(or gnome) - human - orc was paralleled by goblin(or kobold) - hobgoblin - bugbear. So, in my mind hobgoblins are the 'humans' of the goblinoids.

D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Onocentaur (Poll)

You see an Onocentaur, I see a satyr with back problems; which would make sense given those huge ... pecs, but would also go a long way to explain the nasty temper. ;)

The REAL news in Video games....Diablo IV announced

A Hearthstone player named Blitzchung(sp?) won the grandmasters and in his post game interview put on a gas mask declared his support of the Hong Kong protesters. In response Activision/Blizzard revoked his $10, 000 worth of winnings and banned both him and the two casters from participating in...

    Pick one game...

Well, if we're talking a great GM with loads of experience in it, just about any game I think would be pretty great. My pick would be Shadowrun. The whole setting and system seems really cool to me, but only if done right. Otherwise it comes off as pretty campy, I think.

    Let's Talk About THAC0

Yep, nothing to discuss here. *queue 11 page thread*

D&D 5E Potions of spells which require concentration

I think this opens up a possibility for some depth of the in-game magic economy. Some potions(obv. the ones in the DMG that state it) are higher quality potions that don't require concentration and others exist which are lower quality and do require concentration. Possibly due to the the...

[5e] Yuan-ti Pureblood Unusual Abilities for my character

Well, I don't know anything about these abilities other than what you've written here, but given the info in your post I say you go for shed skin. You said it's cool and thematic, and the only snag is that you're not sure that it's worth it. BUT, you said the other players are happy with just +1...

Why are tieflings so popular? How did they manage to outcompete all the other wacky races to win their place in mainstream D&D?

Mebbe add Draenei from WoW to that list. I know they don't share that demonic heritage, but they are aesthetically similar I think. Also I imagine they are a big reason many people assume/decide tieflings have hooves.

    D&D 5E Shield Mastery Feat

The character spent a feat to get this ability, and chars without the feat can shove as an action. Would an acceptable reading not be: the shield master's shove can be regarded as a bonus action instead of a regular action if she also decides to attack that round?

Player Responsibility for the GM's Fun??

I know it's several pages passed, but I'm stealing this list.

Wielding a weapon should increase your AC

Exactly the rule from 3.x and pathfinder, if I recall correctly. I was surprised not to see it in 5th, but I guess the greatly reduced ubiquity of feats in 5th would make it very rare for non-monks to overcome the danger of attacking armed opponents with unarmed strikes.

The final word on DPR, feats and class balance

To be fair, a lot of people do find those games quite boring. Note that that in no way means a game is bad or wanting. I think the real crux of the issue is that TTRPGs are too complex for one to strive for mathematical 'balance' and have any reasonable expectation of success.

    RPG music

If you can find it, the soundtrack for TES IV: Oblivion sounds quite a bit like what you're looking for.

3.5e/Pathfinder fans tell me what you think about essentials

Essentials sounded good at the time, but it just came too late. Pathfinder happened and our group never looked back. Essentials just never got a chance. If it's that much different from the first 4e, it makes me wonder if the 4e most play and advocate now is entirely different from the 4e that...

Whats so special about the Far Realm?

What do you mean? What game? That's Fallout 3. Maybe New Vegas. PC is holding a rail gun. Stretchy character looks caught in a graphics glitch ... The question is so vague. I can't tell what answer would be useful to you. 0.o

    Whining & Complaining

I'm honestly confused here. "Tomorrow's hummingbird" sounds like an excellent ship name to me. Is it a reference to something else or is there something implicit in the name that makes it silly? I'm not trying to be facetious or anything here. I'd really like to know.

You know what? I LOVE ENWorld.

Just what the title says. My perspective on all aspects of both playing and DMing has improved immeasurably due to this site. I get to benefit from all sorts of points of view and creative input into anything even remotely DnD related, and can trust that for the most part discussions are civil...

The break-down in believability at higher levels of play

For our high-level(just hit 33) game, the BBEG doesn't kill us when we're still weak because we're working for him. Really, the only reason that he will be the BBEG is because the party plans to take him out when we decide we're ready. The high-level characters encounter things on par with...
